Kaya Daily Use Sunscreen Lotion SPF 15

I picked this up from the Kaya Clinic when I had gone for the Every Day Radiance treatment, was recommend this by the girl who did the treatment for me.

Claims: Provides effective protection against harmful UVA and UVB rays. Lightweight. Nongreasy. Hydrates the skin. Matte finish. Prevents tanning and skin-ageing due to sun exposure. Non-comedogenic.

Directions: Apply at least 20 minutes before sun exposure. The lady at the clinic told me this method of application: 5 dots of the product - forehead, cheeks, nose, chin. Blend into skin. She told me since I have already oily skin, I won't need another moisturizer (her opinion, not written on bottle). What's written on the bottle: After cleansing and toning, dispense an adequate amount of cream onto your hand. Massage gently onto the skin in an upward and outward motion. Leave for 60 seconds before applying make-up. So, I suppose no need for moisturizer!
What I love: I love the packaging. It has a pump dispenser - very light pump is enough for my whole face. The clear glass lid fits pretty snugly. Easy to carry in the bag without worrying about the product making a mess inside. It is a very light and nongreasy lotion which gets absorbed very fast. Oily-combination skin types won't another moisturizer with this. Dry skin types will.

The bad? I started getting pimples. Not those teeny tiny rash-kind which usually mean the product is not suiting me. It was a proper big pimple, the kind I get if I eat too much oily food! My skin never became oily, so I never linked it to the sunscreen. Even now I am not too sure. I tried it a few times and got an occasional pimple. I stop using this and no pimples. I didn't want to try any more times, so currently am not using it. It's just sitting there till I get brave and try again or I will just use it up for my hands. I loved the texture of this product and really wanted to like it. Won't be buying it again.

Key Ingredients: Aqua, ethylhexyl methoxy cinnamate, cyclomethicone, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, phenylbenzimidazol, sulfonic acid, cyclopentasiloxane, dimethicone crosspolymer, cyclohexasiloxane.

Cost: Rs. 680
Where to buy: Kaya Skin Clinic or at a Kaya products counter.

Just a little note: Was at the Kaya Counter at Lifestyle, Koramangala. They have a machine - skinscope - a white color box on top of the counter. They do a skin analysis with that and give product suggestions based on that. Was fun. Put my head in, and there is this violetish light inside - and a mirror where could see all my beauty. Was given a card with a very flattering diagram of me with spots and circles just about all over my face. I even got a moustache! Tanning it seems! Was recommended the fairness range, tried it on my face too, but won't be buying it because..well..it just didn't interest me so much. Anyway, it seems like a nice idea, to try the product on my face before actually buying it. Too bad I didn't see all this before I bought the sunscreen! If you ever try the skinscope, sit a little away from it before they open it or it can hit your face smack...amn't saying I got hit..but....:P

  5. I guess it's the weather here, Smrithi..I feel it didn't suit me either! Am giving it another try..will see how it goes. Kaya is slightly higher priced, but I use a whole lot of Lush stuff, so I better not complain about prices :P Seriously though, I guess they do make some good products, won't say the same about their marketing!

  7. Oh I should have put a photo of the diagram he drew of my face. My hubby has been laughing at me since then! Only thing nice was I could try the product on my face before actually buying it. Got a sample of their face cleanser/gel something. Should try that next..
