Review: Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation

In 1920 Max Factor gave into Frank Factor’s suggestion and officially began referring to his products as “make-up“ based on the verb, "to make up" (one's face). Up until then the term "cosmetics" had been used as the term "make-up" was considered to be used only by people in the theatre or of dubious reputation and not something to be used in polite society.

This is my first product from Max Factor. I had seen this with my sister and the packaging caught my eye. Of course, we were so busy gossiping and shopping, that I completely forgot to try it out when she was here!

Cut to last week, went to check out Hyper City opened on IPTL road - more about that some other time. - I found a Max Factor counter there and decided to try their products while hubby stood patiently in the LONG queue at the billing counter. Have to say, the girl there is wonderful. The first thing I told her is "I am not planning on buying anything, am just trying!" She just laughed and was so enthusiastic about telling me about everything I asked. Anyways, she tried this foundation on me..and I LOVED it...I just had to buy it...it was like I suddenly had amazing skin.

I amn't good at giving descriptions of what the product looks/works like so I am hoping the pictures make sense. Comes in a really wide mouthed clear plastic jar that's about 1-2 cm high. Yes, "cm" not "inches." The lid has a top compartment that holds a sponge (which I don't use).

Flip open to use the sponge...wash it, dry it before you put it back..well not immediately if you are in a hurry..but do it.  To get to the foundation, twist open the cap. That's it.

How to use:  Just glide/rub your finger on the surface to pick up the product. Dot and blend. I just use my fingers. There is the sponge but I don't like using sponges.

This gives a dewy-glowy-healthy finish...definitely NOT a matte finish.

What I loved about this: My combination/oily skin behaved perfectly well throughout the day, no break-outs. It didn't look like I had applied anything...definitely not cakey!

The bad: For me, NOTHING.
    * Has some very fine illuminating particles  in it, and I didn't notice it until I looked very close, and I think that's what cuts down the matte effect. I like it, but I know people who won't.
    * Moisturize properly, though. Can cause dry patches. I tried it on my hand without bothering to moisturize and it did settle into the abundant lines (yes yes..its bad..but I have a lot of dishes to clean up).
    * The quantity might be less if you are using it often. I go out hardly ever..so really not an issue in my case.
    * It doesn't hold up that well as the day wears on...my face did start to get a bit oily after about 5 hours but not overly so, and it doesn't have any SPF in it. So not the ideal pick for a day out, especially in the summers. I think I would keep it for cooler nights and shorter outings.
    * Need a foundation with good coverage - try something else. This just gives a glowing healthy look to the skin and won't cover any blemishes too much. Is probably more suitable for people who either have good skin to start with or people like me who just don't mind blemishes showing through.

Cost: 11.5 g - Rs. 590
