The Pro-To-Go lipsticks from Avon are the gizmo-gadgety offering from Avon - the packaging features a slide-button technology that allows you to apply the lipstick with just one hand - slide open, apply, slide shut.  No fiddling around with caps. The lipstick comes in a long black glossy plasticky case with a sliding button kind of thing on one side. A big bold AVON stamped over one side is all it has for a decoration.  How does it work?  See that nifty little button jutting out on the side?  Slide it upwards, and it pushes open the top of the lipstick.  Now slide it all the way to the top to get the lipstick out :-) All with one hand :P

As you can see, the Avon Pro-To-Go lipsticks aren't the fattest lipsticks in the world, so I suggest pushing out only a little bit.  Don't slide it as much as I have (unless of course if you want pics of it) - you are risking a serious lipstick fracture.

The Avon Pro-To-Go lipstick in Sweet Brown is a rustish colour with hints of pink and coral in it.  It definitely is a warm colour.  The lipstick feels quite smooth and creamy and goes on opaque.  I use a dab-dab motion to apply this lipstick in a light layer, blot, and reapply (or use a lip brush).  It is decently moisturizing - definitely does not dry out my lips - and trust me, mine just need an excuse! Do make sure your lips are properly scrubbed though - as I think you should with any lipstick. As for lasting power, I think its average. Doesn't wear off immediately but doesnt last the whole day either.

Available in India in 10 shades. Two other shades I have heard are good - Iced Mochachino (I think its a beige) and Provocative Plum (err..a plum shade) - have not even seen them myself, so just passing on info here. Oh and it comes with SPF 15.

Cost: 429/1.8 g. Myself...I am thrify..buy it when it lands up on sale the next time :-) I think I paid around 300 for it.

Verdict: Good.

  2. I love lippies...love this kinda colours and am a sucker for cute packaging..Well who isn't.

But Avon is available only with consultants isn't it?

  3. It is available only through the consultants. You can check their e-brochure for the month though at the Avon India site. A consultant is no big deal I think, registration is free, and anyone can become one. My friend signed up because she buys a lot of this stuff herself..she gets stuff for people if they ask her but thats about it. 2000 Rs, she gets free delivery otherwise I think its about Rs. 40 - not sure though :-)

  6. :D :D :D Thank you..hehheee...they are just so me..the shopping bags. The consultant thing - I thought its a great idea and my friend is a genius for figuring a great secret out, but apparently, its something many people do..even with Oriflame.

  9. No idea Anamika..never thought of it. Its not a problem for me to buy so I guess it never struck me as inconvenient. Actually, if it wasn't for my friend I would never buy anything from Avon. I don't feel very comfortable buying looking at a book/brochure..but with her she will know someone else who has bought it and so invariably I get to pick only good stuff :P

  11. Hello! Do you have a dupe of this shade in MAC? Sweet brown's long been discontinued and I'm still looking for it online and its getting expensive having to look for a stock of this lipstick :(

    2. Thank You so much for the reply, Radhika! Happy Holidays to you and your family! I went to the MAC store here and covered the back of my hand with swatches. The closest one I got to Sweet Brown is MAC taupe (a matte) lipstick. Do you recall sweet brown to be quite like Taupe too? I only have the tiniest smidgen left in the tube and Im not sure if the amount would show the same colouring as when generously swatched...

    3. Happy Holidays to you too, Hain! :)

What about Mocha? Taupe is a good match too...at the very least, it is similarly brown based.

    4. ohh! Mocha... that one i haven't tried. I remember MAC's Mineralize Rich Lipstick in Glamour Era coming a close second to Taupe when it comes to colour similarity. I'll take another trip to MAC and update you :) Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it!
