Chanel Le Crayon Yeux - Precision Eye Definer (Swatch/Review)

Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer from Chanel (Khaki Dore, Brun Cuivre, Bronze) - Reviews/Swatches

I had always been a twist-up pencil eyeliner girl, had them in a few different colours, and that's about all my eye makeup was - and I was pretty happy with it too - mascara if I have loads of time. Until the attack of the beauty blogs! Now, I love eyeshadows. Slight problem, though - they do look amazing on others, I amn't any good with them. So here's my easy peasy midway :D

Chanel's Eye Definer Crayons are super soft, come in amazing colours, and are easy to smudge. You can use them like regular eyeliners, just line along your lash line and you are good to go, or you can smudge them a bit and they almost double up as eye shadows. I am not saying they ARE eyeshadows, but for the makeup gawars (sorry Ikky it was too cute, I had to borrow) this is a useful option :-)

According to the Chanel website - Line eyes quickly and easily with an eye crayon that achieves a variety of effects, from a subtle yet precise look, to a more dramatic definition. The built-in smudge applicator perfects a smoky eye look, while a companion sharpener ensures the pencil is always ready for lining.

I have these in 3 shades:  Khaki Dore, Brun Cuivre, and Bronze.

Khaki Dore - Green-gold khaki
Brun Cuivre - Brown with a bit of a shimmer. Seems a bit of a reddish brown to me :-)

These two have a bit of a shimmer to them..its not glitter, just a golden shimmer. Is very difficult to explain, and I really haven't seen the same effect in other brands (I have only seen swatches online or swatched some in-store, I never bothered to buy anything else).

Bronze - Again, a reddish-brown with a teeny tiny hint of shimmer. This is a discontinued shade, and I got it as a gift with purchase. It's very similar to Brun Cuivre and won't have picked it up, otherwise.

Each pencil come with a smudger at one end and a separate sharpener.

They are super smooth. No tugging, pulling, halting...nope..nothing. These are luxuriously smooth :D

They are easy to sharpen and stay smooth around the tip - no scary looking rough edges.  The colours that I have with me at least don't smudge - as in smear and travel all over your face.  They are easy to smudge when I want to but don't have wandering properties :P  The SA though did tell me, though, that colours like Black smudge easily and need to be set with an eyeshadow if you don't want to look like a raccoon.

Cost: Rs. 1250 for 1 g ($29.00)

Swatch: The second photo swatches are after I held my hand under running water for a bit. The product doesn't claim to being waterproof, though, and goes off easily with just regular face wash.

Khakhi Dore, Brun Cuivre, Bronze - after holding under running water

My verdict:  Quality - Superb.
Pricing - Ouch!!  You get what you pay for, though :D

Ingredients: (I am not sure which of the three colours this one is - I mixed up boxes)

  24. Its very infectious, at least for me, to not try to buy a million things after reading blogs :-(

    ReplyDelete
  25. I bought some stuff like eyeshadows (TBS ones we were laughing abt at IMBB) and loads of lipsticks from Avon..and they were just not good at all. Finally I decided I will just buy little little but good things instead of buying a million Avon lipsticks which I wont have used more than once or twice. Plus you know, those would be 200 Rs..and I get so tempted I would buy 3-4 every time..wasted so much money that way :-(

  26. it really is very infectious man! just saw lancome's new upcoming collection on rashmi's blog and now wanna try that :-/

  27. Lancome eye pencils - I wanted to buy those - thankfully Rati put pics of how it looks when sharpened!

    ReplyDelete
  28. but you know when she went to the lancome store to check out whether all the pencils are like that, she saw that they weren't! the assistant sharpened the pencils and showed her and they had no problem at all. rati said that maybe the packaging of the samples she got is different from the originals.

  29. Ohh okk..I wanted their black kohl..actually tried them at the counter and really liked them..plus they are super long. I just ditched after seeing the sharpened lot..kind of scared of putting those near my eyes :D Good I only bought these two then..yippeeeee
