What are Lush fresh face masks: These are face masks made with fresh, natural ingredients and contain absolutely no synthetic preservatives at all. In fact, they are so fresh and preservative-free, they have a shelf-life of about 2 weeks and have to be stored in the refrigerator, just like you would with freshly prepared salads!. Lush's philosophy is that what goes on our skin should be just as good for our skin as it is for our body, so they use fresh, natural ingredients brimming with antioxidants and natural moisturizers.
I have tried quite a few Lush fresh face masks over the years, and Ayesha is among my favorites. I tried this for the first time when I got a chance to exchange 5 old/used Lush tubs and pick up a fresh face mask of my choice.
Lush fresh face masks are just that - loads of goodies blended up with absolutely no preservatives. Back home in India, when there were Lush stores here, these fresh masks were displayed stored on ice in steel bowls and looking yummy enough to eat! I have seen a similar display here in the US too, though the actual for-sale masks are kept packaged in regular Lush tubs and in the refrigerator - much cleaner, imo. Ayesha is an ugly-looking mask, but trust me, you definitely want to spread this ugly mess on your face :D. It's a grayish colored thick mask with a pleasant herbal smell to it. You apply it on just like you would any clay-based mask, spreading a thin layer on to clean face, and leave to dry for about 10-15 minutes. Relax, read a book, take a nap, and wash off when the mask is completely dry.
Each of Lush's face masks comes with its own unique mix of ingredients and targeting a specific skincare/facial concern. Ayesha features kiwifruit, vitamins, rose oil, etc. in it's ingredients list, and claims to help temporarily soften fine lines and give a brightened, tightened, fresh appearance to the skin. Ayesha is a bit thickish in consistency and a little difficult to spread, so I like to mix is some rose water (I use Eu Roma - Lush) to make a thin enough paste to use this. Straight out of the fridge, this mask feels absolutely heavenly on the skin.
As for results, while I noticed no drastic difference right away - my face looked clean and neither oily nor dry - my skin looked a lot more radiant and smoother after about an hour or so. I think the astringent and brightening effects of this mask show up over time, and of course, because skincare and makeup goes on better after using this mask, it gives an overall appearance of fresh and glowing skin. The effect does last for a day or two after each application. I have slightly sensitive, oily-combination skin, and I found that using Lush Ayesha gave my skin a brightened, healthy appearance at least for a day or two, without any pesky side-effects like pimples or excessive oiliness (my usual problem with brightening masks). I would use this mask before a special occasion, probably the night before. Do give this a try if you want a mask that will give you instant radiance and a healthy appearance to the skin - but I would recommend trying this out at least once beforehand and not right before some special day (just to be sure you don't have any unwanted skin reactions).
