Zen in a Mall - The Shiseido Massage

I just had to share this here - got a complimentary facial massage from Shiseido when I bought my toner/lotion. I am all for freebies but invariably find they are just not worth a mention leave alone anyone's time. But this...oh you just have to get this..its gooooood.

Shiseido has spas..I just don't know if they have any in Bangalore, though. If anyone has any idea, please let me know. My facial massage was at the Shiseido counter at Lifestyle. I wasn't too keen on this, but its free...and I admit I got tempted.

The SA settled me into a comfortable but regular swivel chair, the kind that you find at most cosmetic counters. Then she placed a disposable shower cap to cover my hair and tucked towels in to keep my shirt from getting messy. I got some curious looks from people shopping for jeans nearby!

Shiseido Skincare Massage - Facial
  • Skincare Cleanser to remove any makeup/dirt (I had on my moisturizer, sunblock, loose powder).
  • Then the actual massage with the White Lucent Brightening Massage Cream. It is a light gel-like massage cream. Does not feel one bit heavy or oily and spreads really easily. There was a STRONG alcohol smell to it, and I panicked. I have very sensitive skin (or so I believe), but nothing happened, and once she started massaging I was too drowsy to think about it. I have no idea how long she massaged..she finished I guess in about 20-30 minutes. Was heaven.
  • Dab with paper tissues to take off any excess massage cream. Applied Pureness Alcohol Lotion Free Lotion (thats similar to a toner - function is to prepare your skin to help absorb the next step, cream/gel, better).
  • Waited a minute or two for the lotion/softener/toner to absorb, then applied Pureness Anti-shine Refreshing Lotion. This is a super-runny watery lotion, and the only way I would get oily with this is if I take some oil or cream and rub it on my face.

If you get a chance to try this facial massage at one of the counters, I suggest TAKE IT...even if they are selling cauliflowers (or castor oil :P) next to the counter. Its really relaxing and my face did look brighter the next day.

I am putting up pictures from Shiseido on how to do this massage yourself using any cream that you might want to try it with. Use enough to allow your fingers to slide/glide easily over your skin without stretching it or applying pressure. Finger pressure should be very very slight...just glide, that's it. The same thing is there somewhere on a website, but I cannot find it right now.

Lush Angels on Bare Skin

Lush products are all about variety.  Some work while some are spectacular failures (for me at least) and some are nothing short of miracles.  Lush Angels on Bare Skin (AOBS) is a quiet, unassuming product, which makes no tall claims..an all round cleanser and exfoliator is what Lush says of it.

Lush Angels on Bare Skin
Lush Angels on Bare Skin
What it is:  Lush Angels on Bare Skin facial cleanser is a cleanser with a bit of an exfoliation - uses almond bits to scrub and clean, kaolin to cleanse, and rose and lavender to balance the skin and leave it moisturised.  It has a pleasant smell, of roses and maybe lavender, but the smell is faint so it shouldn't bother a sensitive nose.  The almond granules are a bit large-sized. There are some brownish bits scattered throughout the product, and I assume these are dried lavender bits.

Was doing my usual cosmetic-counter surfing at Lifestyle one weekend when I spotted the summer collection from Chanel. I had seen this on blogs and blogs from the entire universe but just had to go peek at it in person..am a serious addict here! Proud to say my debit card came away unhurt from it...okkkk..I don't think these colours would work on me either. So here are some pics and the prices on them for fellow curious cats.

The Pro-To-Go lipsticks from Avon are the gizmo-gadgety offering from Avon - the packaging features a slide-button technology that allows you to apply the lipstick with just one hand - slide open, apply, slide shut.  No fiddling around with caps. The lipstick comes in a long black glossy plasticky case with a sliding button kind of thing on one side. A big bold AVON stamped over one side is all it has for a decoration.  How does it work?  See that nifty little button jutting out on the side?  Slide it upwards, and it pushes open the top of the lipstick.  Now slide it all the way to the top to get the lipstick out :-) All with one hand :P

Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Treatment

This is a quickish post on something I picked up from Spar a few weeks back. Of course, I just had to pick it up since it said Miracle Treatment, but the fascination didn't translate to using it promptly enough! Anyways, I tried it recently, and it's good :-)

Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

Lush claims this is their best-selling scrub...and what does just about everyone list out as it's plus points?

- It smells like lemons and takes you to a beach - oh yes it does, even on a cold clammy day in Bangalore!
- It tastes good if you "accidentally" get some in your mouth - you know that tangy taste you get with fresh lime and salt.

Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub Review
Lush Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub

With almost everyone giving it a thumps up, the rave reviews were the sole reason I bought this scrub. Does it justify the forever-upwards Lush price tag for what is basically a good old-fashioned salt scrub? I honestly don't know. I have repurchased it before the first tub was completely over, so I am thinking I need to check into Lush Rehab (center, not the shampoo), but read on for my confused and undecided review on this product :-)

Lakme Face Sheer Desert Rose

What it is:  Sun soaked irridescent pigments that tint, highlight and layer for lovely cheek and face color.

How to use: Twist to open. Tap to infuse sponge with color. Layer to build gorgeous sunny cheek color or lightly go over face for that just-back- from-a-tropical-island holiday look. Twist to close.

This is a part of a Wendell Rodricks collection for Lakme - came out in 2008. Did I tell you I hadn't updated my makeup stash in a long time??

My experience
This is a very nice product - at least for a makeup dodo like me. Just twist the sponge top and dab the product on to your cheeks. The colour does not come on all golden shimmery right away - you can easily build it up. I don't know if this is a blush or a bronzer - maybe the makeup enthusiasts can clarify that for me :-) Either way, its just the right colour for me. It has some very fine shimmer in it, but it's very wearable in the day time. Maybe not for a more formal office environment - I haven't worked at a place like that, so I am won't be too sure. I have pretty sensitive skin, and this did not cause any breakouts or problems at all.
