Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliener Pencils |
I had ordered the Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner Pencils ages back but got them only last weekend. I am in a no-eyeliner phase right now, so I wasn't too excited to finally get these, but once I swatched them I really did like them a lot. Unlike the older Avon Glimmersticks, these have a bit of a shimmer - nothing too obvious, though they do tend to sparkle more under artificial lighting than dayilght.
My Experience with the Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner Pencils
These are retractible pencils, twist to get the pencil out and twist to get it back in. They are quite soft and can break easily if you twist out too much length. The colour stays on quite long and does not smudge unless intentinoally/unintentionally rubbed. The brown colour in the swatches is "Bronze Glow" which is one of the older Glimmersticks - not Glimmersticks Diamonds - and does not have any shimmer to it. I added it in the photos by mistake and later got too lazy to take another set of photos :P :P As for staying power, I found that varies depending on the climate - under more humid/hot conditions, the shimmer particles tend to move around the eye area a bit. This can be reduced greatly, though, with the use of a primer before applying these eyeliners. At any rate, I would recommend these pencils for the more casual/night time rather than a more formal venue and/or day time use.Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds Eyeliner Pencils - Swatches/EOTD
I tried Emrald Glow on my eyes. Ever since I started trying eyeshadows, I find it very odd to use just eyeliner on my eyes (!!!), so I smudged a bit of the same colour all over my eyelid after applying the eyeliner. Mascara and kajal, and I thought this was better than my earlier way of applying, which would have been just drawing a line with the eyeliner. The shimmer is a bit exaggerated thanks to my fab photography skills, but it's more toned down and nonmessy in real life :D![]() |
Swatches: (L to R): Smokey Diamonds, Black Ice, Twilight Sparkle, Emerald Glow Brownish-bronze swatch - bronze glow (not a part of the Glimmersticks Diamonds) |
Have you tried these pencils? Do you have a favorite?

OTHER AVON PRODUCT REVIEWS:
huhhhhhhh..you have soooooooooooo many eye pencilssss??? they are looking niceeeeeee!! :D :D post some other color too naa..this looks somewhat similar to your siahi look..I want to see you wearing Bronze Glow
ReplyDeleteok so bronze glow doesn't have glimmers...still I want to seeeeeeeee..it is looking so gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteok do a Black Ice look too!! :D :D ..I feel it will look amazing with Khakhi eyeshadow!!!
ReplyDeleteI should have tried blue..after I tried this even I was thinking..this is just like that Siahi wala look..:| Me try blue next..I never try blue :P
ReplyDeleteBronze one - this Avon one - I don't like too much..it's okayish..but it looks very good on my friend..she uses that all the time..green for upper lining and grey or brown for lower - it sounds too crazy and mad but somehow she looks very pretty when she wears that combination!
ReplyDeleteyeah blue and that black ice too...I think that with Chanel khakhi will look gorgoussss!!!
ReplyDeleteI always always always keep using that Chanel Khaki..is the only eyeshadow of mine that has a depression now in it :D :D :D
ReplyDeletehawwww..use something from inglot too na..I think it has some similar khakhi kinda shade..a bit toned down!! I remember!!!!
ReplyDeleteI use all those..but this Chanel Khaki is the most most used..I have a Chanel quad, which I hardly ever use :| that's the one I am trying to use now :| :|
ReplyDeleteReview itttttttttttttt here and post a nice EOTD!! :D :D
ReplyDeletethose crap oriflame people didn't send me next month's cataloge@!! :(
ReplyDeleteAww..you call them and shout at them..and then go see the online catalogue :D How is the brush?
ReplyDeleteits looking nice..one end is the brush..the other end has sponge applicator and they have given a separate sponge applicator extension as well..donno how useful it'd be!! :P :P
ReplyDeleteI have the emerald glow & twilight sparkle.....
ReplyDeleteI don't like the sponge ends..but I think they are useful for smudging naaa..how much does this brush cost?
ReplyDeleteRajeshwari - It takes me a long time to get anything I order - is from my friend and I just collect it from her when I meet her - so I ordered all 4 colours and saved myself the trouble :P
I think at consultant discount it came for 120 Rs...On actual price it might be somewhere around Rs.150/-
ReplyDeleteThat's not bad at all!
ReplyDeleteyeah..I hope it works!! :P :P
ReplyDeleterads...do they stay for long time ??? u know the faces pencils i bought last time...i love them...but the prob is its supposed to be water proof, smudge proof etc etc...but it just vanishes from my eyelid...and whatever itsy bitsy is left has to be removed with a remover....i just hate that...so me looking for something that will stay for a real long time....i want all colors :|
ReplyDeletecali ..i wanted to ask u...can u let me know the cost of that velvel mask ????? and night cream tooo...
ReplyDeleteand today i just did what you did here... spread the pencil liner over the lid and then wear a black liner over it.... :D
ReplyDeletePriya - these stay on - no wandering right up to the eyebrow area kind of tendencies :P :P These aren't very creamy, and that might be the reason. Generally, creamier ones are easier to smudge but then they are also faster to travel all around :P :P ..or so I thinkkkkkk.
ReplyDeleteWe makeup newbies have to do all such crazy things to survive Priya :D :D :D
ReplyDeleteYou can pat some eyeshadow over a smudged pencil, and it will stay on longer.
ReplyDeleteyaa...after some time...i will find more of the eyepencil over the brow area than on the lid :| not creamy but can be spread easily?
ReplyDeletei know rati was tellng abt patting eyeshadow..but u need a similar color...i hardly hv any eyeshadows ... :D
ReplyDeletei should get the basics atleast..i will do that when i go to delhi..get the custom made palette :)
ReplyDeleteand i think the first thing i need is a good base...my lids are super oily...i think all the oil of my face goes there :D
ReplyDeleteOh these aren't that easy to spread as compared to the creamier ones, but it's a nice compromise.
ReplyDeleteok....but the color has comeout really nice on your lid
ReplyDeleteer..Priyaa..That Royal Velvet Ultimate Night cream is for 990 rs!! and the mask is for 690! :)
ReplyDeleteIt will come out that way for you too..you me similar colour naaaa :happydance:
ReplyDeleteCaliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii---what is that?? Royal Velvet Ultimate Night Cream?? My brain overworking on why the two of you want that cream :P :P :P
hehee....yup its the night cream...my night cream is over and i want to look out for options...errr..this is very expensive na cali
ReplyDeleteTry a sample sachet first and then order - if it's a good cream the expensive part might be more tolerable :P :P
ReplyDeletei agree ....:) cali....samples ?? :P :P
ReplyDeleteNoopur had reviewed a foundation on IMBB - she tried samples - so I assumed other products also might be available in sample sizes.
ReplyDeleteya i know i saw that....u know i keep seeing this ad abt blue dahlia on every magaz i get...so am hoping its still avail... i want that :)
ReplyDeleteIt will be there..was LE..but it's Bangalore..they still have the LE Chanel quad from last year and the year before that also think!!!
ReplyDeletelol...ok...except for MAC...bec non of the MAC LE are ever avail here
ReplyDeleterads..... the look is very good!!!
ReplyDeleteMAC forget it..you won't get it next week also!!! Estee Lauder might still have something remaining I think :D
ReplyDeleteAnks - Thankoo :D
phew...I came home just now!! yeah priya..it is their "royal range" lol.. :P
ReplyDeleteI am unable to order any sample!! :(( Whenever I add any sample to my online order, it just doesn't take my order..says some unknown error..I think I'd have to go to oriflame office to collect samples!! :((
ReplyDeletehehe...its ok cali..
ReplyDeleteMe itching to try the new brush...but donno the technique!! :( :P :P :P
ReplyDelete???!!! What's technique in a brush? Is not like regular eyeshadow brush??
ReplyDelete?????
ReplyDeleteer...I mean I want to do some mixing and blending..and end up looking like a panda!! :(( :((
ReplyDeleteI need to learn a lotttttttttttt!!! :( Can't continue with those easy peasy tricks forever!!!
ReplyDeleteOh that..I think it just comes with use - we will also learn one day Cali :D :D
ReplyDeleteThough I think you do pretty decent eye makeup already :)
ReplyDelete:D :D !! yeah..lets keep up the spirit!! he he..you start...use that Chanel quad to make an EOTD!! :D
ReplyDeleteRads.....You know I do very messy eyemakeup and hide all the mess in the way I take pics...!!! :P :P :P The only eye makeup that has worked properly for me so far is that easy peasy eye lining thing with eyeshadow!! :P
ReplyDeleteHehehee...for some time naa Cali I used to use eyemakeup remover more than shadow :(( Now also, I wil be standing with one q-tip dipped in the remover and doing alteration like tailor :| :|
ReplyDeleteyou guys have so much patience na...i need to learn...i mean i am like...if its ok..its ok...if not good...then too its ok :D
ReplyDeletehe he..Priyaaa....I am also like that!! :P but then BF comes and jhaados me to stop looking like a bhootni and I wash my face!! :P
ReplyDelete:D :D :D :D you are bhootni..me circus freak...I don't know what name Priya gets but will be something similar I am sure :D :D :D :D
ReplyDeletehe he he!! :D :D

ReplyDeleteyou know from past few days I am just not wearing any makeup...I dunno going through no makeup phase. :(( he eh someone gifted me a pair of earrings today, :D :D
These are the Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds - with shimmer...older version (I don't know if it's still available or not) has no shimmer is plain Glimmersticks :P

ReplyDeleteHi Radhika
ReplyDeletehow are you doing..Well this is my first comment on your blog..
Me liking your post...liking the blue pencil...I was hunting for the majestic plum vch they had earlier..I guess they dont anymore...sob sob...
If could suggest me some purple as in deep purple grapevine kinda eye pencil vch is waterline safe and doesnt smudge I'd be grateful to you..
Regards,
Dipti
ahhh amazing. I have been eying on these liners for quite some while. will get them now :D
ReplyDeleteMy comment aint showing up...
ReplyDeleteI have the shimmery glimmerstick....the black one and you are correct...there is not much of a shimmer....but once the colour fades, there is still bit of shimmer here and there na.....I like it that way too.....I liked your idea of smudging it somewhat like an eyeshadow..........oh you lazy, we all know.....you needn't mention it again and again.................khikhi khi....
ReplyDeletelol..Hi Jomol!! :D..and Good morning Radssssssss and Priya!! :D and all silent readers too
ReplyDeleteHey Cali................good morning................:))
ReplyDeleteHi Dipti..sorry about your comment going missing..no idea what happened :) Oh I love Majestic Plum - I do hope Avon continues to make it. As a replacement, I think Colorbar Prunella is a similar colour, but I do not know if it is waterline safe.
ReplyDeleteHii Insiya - these are really good, do check them out the next time you find them in the catalogue :)
ReplyDeleteJomol - :P :P :P :P get the rest of the colours also :D :D Are very very nice.
ok..Now I am asking for a recommendation...Rads...morning morning me asking you to lagaaofy your brains!! :P :P ..I need a nice white eye pencil that is water line safe..Please suggest some good affordable one!! :D :D Thanksssssssss
ReplyDeleteI have no clue about something like that in the drugstore brands - might check it next time I am at some shop. I have seen those in high-end brands, though. Considering I am blessed with extra-huge eyes and am always looking for pencils that would make my eyes look even a bit smaller - white pencils and me would be continents apart :D :D :D :D
ReplyDeletehe he he... :P Ok..tell those higher end brands then!! :P I need a nice white pencil..the only good one I've found out is Lancome Le Crayon!! Donno how much it costs!!!
ReplyDeleteChanel has a white - costs around Rs. 1650 I think. Lancome pencils are longer and cost slightly less than that. MAC had a LE pencil, I think, that could be used on the waterline - Chromagraphic?
ReplyDeletehmmmmmmmm.....I think I'll go for MAC!!
ReplyDeleteBetter check at store regarding availability (doubtful :P :P ) and ask if they are waterline safe.
ReplyDeleteyeah..I need waterline safe one..my eyes are small size naa...I avoid putting kajal in my waterline..I usually apply kajal on lower lashline only!!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue and black ones..and looks really good on you..just like an eyeshadow. :-)
ReplyDeleteIs easy peasy and not too bad I think :) :) Have you tried anything from Avon? I never get their skincare but I do get tempted by eyeliners and a few of their lipsticks :D
ReplyDeletegoood eveneingsssss......rads do you think your friend can get all the color phor me ??????
ReplyDeleteYa she could - but it's costing Rs. 229 this month - no discount on it.
ReplyDeleteok...so ask her to buy whenever discount....i can wait :D
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry..It's 189 on discount..I mixed up the price..you can also check it online every month in the brochure.
ReplyDeleteThe ones with shimmer - the old ones are there for 150 Rs.
ReplyDeleteok fine...i need all colors :D new one

ReplyDeleteHii Ramya - thank you :) :)
ReplyDeleteRads, sorry to reply so late and after so many commnets. I am in love with their lipbalm, especially the strawberry flavour..love it. Its not very moisturising but i just love its strawberry frangrance and tint..
ReplyDeleteMy blog's last post doesnt show up on any of the blogs..help help..:-(((
"Doesn't show up on any blogs"??? I am not quite sure what the problem is but could you mail me about this?
ReplyDeleteDipti - A friend of mine was telling me that the older Glimmersticks are still available - so you should be able to get Majestic Plum.
ReplyDeleteI will write you a mail..thanks so much..
ReplyDeleteLooking all shimmery and great :)
ReplyDeletethese look so nice... i really want this!!!
ReplyDeleteIkkkeee..Happy Valentine's :D Get these naa..they are really cute esp for their price :D
ReplyDeleteyessss!!!!! i missed you rads!:'(
ReplyDeletethanx Rads 4 d review. Choosing 4m ur swatches, I bought d smokey diamonds shade n i m very much liking it. On repeated application it gives d look of black eyeliner! It lines my eyes in a natural way & doesnt look as if I hv applied any make up. But yes, d glitter is a bit of a prob, by evening it spreads
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, it doesnt smudge n is water proof as well. So now i dont hv to worry abt my looks once applied it.
But now after several applications, it has become slightly sticky & transfers a bit too much of d product on my lashes than I want. This happened to my Lakme Black Satin Eyeliner also. I dont know y. :(
Hi Anu..glad you liked the product. That usually happens if you apply a thicker line and also because summers it gets very hot so products melt faster. Try using an eyelid primer or powder your lashes before applying the eyeliner. Also, press eyeshadow directly on to the eyeliner to set it in place - for example, if you draw with black diamonds, take a thin brush and press black powder eyeshadow directly only on to the eyeliner line that you have drawn. This will set the liner some more without changing the color too much. Generally, though these products will migrate like that especially in summers and heat, so maybe you can try a waterproof liquid eyeliner instead if you want to apply thicker lines - Lakme Avon all make them - and also Maybelline makes gel liners - plain black or even ones with shimmer in them which will stay better. Hope that helps..thanks for taking the time to leave me a comment :)
