Got a couple of things from my sister - she didn't need them, and I was happy to adopt - Ayur Herbal All-Purpose Cream was one of them.
What Ayur says: Easily absorbable and rejuvenating cream. It preserves the skin by increasing the blood circulation. Tightens skin and prevents dehydration of skin, due to high concentration of natural moisturiser.
Though marketed as a face cream, I tried it as a body cream, and it works just fine. It's a light, easy-to-spread cream, that gets absorbed in a jiffy and doesn't feel too heavy.

Ayur Herbal All-Purpose Cream with Aloe Vera (and extra Vitamin E) |
Though marketed as a face cream, I tried it as a body cream, and it works just fine. It's a light, easy-to-spread cream, that gets absorbed in a jiffy and doesn't feel too heavy.
What I liked about it:
- Cost: Rs. 85/200 mL. This would last me a long while - and considering it provides decent moisturization, I found this quite a plus point. Available in 3 sizes: 80 mL, 200 mL, 500 mL - so you can always get a smaller size to try out.
- It spreads very easily, neither too thick nor too runny, and the moisturization lasted the whole day.
- I didn't find it too greasy or oily - was just enough to provide moisture without being too heavy.
Aloe vera and extra Vitamin E - I am sure there is more in the cream than that :P |
- This has a very old-fashioned cold cream smell to it - I really don't find this a problem at all, and it doesn't even smell much on the skin.
- Comes in a wide tub - It has not leaked with being thrown around in bags, so it doesn't seem that accident-prone. However, I know at least one person who finds tub packaging unhygienic :P :P :P
- Though I found this a very decent body moisturizer, it is not a very effective foot/hand cream. I definitely need something more nourishing for the hands/feet.
Hi Rads,
ReplyDeleteI was not expecting you to review this cream..I got this a few days back for deep cleansing..you are right this is not enough to go on hand and feet, for that matter even TBS body butter are not up to the job, but for deep cleansing ayur (any old fashioned cold cream) works good..
I love the wide-mouthed tub packaging, and if the cream is half-decent I like it :D But this was passed on to me from my sister..the credit to buying goes to her :P
ReplyDeleteMy only grouse is lack of ingredient list..
ReplyDeleteThey really should have put up something!
ReplyDeleteAaaah... and i did wonder where that went! :P :P :P... heheh yeah.. Ayur is good for hands and legs only...ONLY!!!!! if you take the cream anywhere close to your face...the likelihood of a pimple popping up in 2 min is very very high...

ReplyDeleteHi Radhika,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading ur review I bought & tried this cream. I usually use creams in winters on my skin & it is an ok product. Though it is moisturising but somehow I didnt like it. I cant describe it.
But I hv used Ayur cold cream, d one with blue lid, for more than 10 yrs now!! That one is just amazing.
Ayur cold cream is very moisturising, its a soft cream with a nice fragrance & it heals all dry areas & gives me soft & smooth, nourished & glowing skin, like I cd never imagine for myself. I used to hv very dry skin & Ayur has cured that. Now come winters & I hv no worries :) My entire family & relatives use this! That is how much I hv advertised it!! :D
I think u shd give d Ayur cold cream a try this winters.
Hi Anu! Thanks for the comment :D
DeleteThis oen I have reviewed will definitely be lighter and that too for winters...I love using cold creams. Not tried Ayur's but mom always buys Ponds or there was this brand - Charmis - not sure if it's available now..that used to be pretty awesome too.
