Lush Charity Pot Hand and Body Lotion - rich moisturizer with cocoa butter and almond oil.
"Charity Pot was created in April 2007 to raise money for charities and other good causes. Every penny you pay goes to helping those groups and the work they do. In the last financial year LUSH (world wide) donated £340,000 to small organizations working in the areas of environment, animal protection and human rights. In India through the sales of Charity Pot, LUSH has the opportunity to be part of SoCare, a charitable organisation that shelters kids of life-term convicts. It’s their vision to establish a pro-active society for the children of life-term prisoners."I got a chance to meet some of the kids from this charity during the launch event at a Lush store (check photos here and here). Very friendly, confident, and smart, all these kids need is a little help from us to get them a better start in life than what their circumstances can give them.
Lush Charity Pot is a creamy yellow moisturizer - somewhere between a lotion and a cream in consistency. It smells quite obviously of chocolate, but the smell fades soon and leaves on a slight fragrance on the skin. Definitely not overpowering, but do sniff this before buying.
I have used this both as an all-over body moisturizer as well as an overnight hand cream. The lotion spreads very easily and gets absorbed very fast into the skin - lasted at least a good 12 hours on me. I didn't feel the need for a body moisturizer until my next bath. As a hand cream, it is quite good though it would get washed off very soon if you are the kind who works with a lot of water - best used as an overnight hand cream.
Lush Charit Pot Ingredient list: Water (Aqua), Almond Oil (Prunus dulcis), Fair Trade Cocoa Butter (Theobroma cacao), Glycerine, Stearic Acid, Ylang Ylang Oil (Cananga odorata), Geranium Oil (Pelargonium crispum), Tagettes Oil (Tagetes glandulifera), Triethanolamine, Cetearyl Alcohol, Geraniol, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, Gardenia Extract (Gardenia jasminoides), Methylparaben, Propylparaben. Like most Lush products, this too contains parabens as preservatives - check my post on the paraben debate here.
Cost: Rs. 990/240 g.
If you are looking for a body moisturizer from Lush, this would be a good option. It is this the most inexpensive of the body lotions that Lush sells, and you also get the satisfaction of having helped a bunch of kids :) :) :) The product shown in this review is a sampler pack. The actual pack is larger and is labeled differently. Collect 5 black tubs, retun at any Lush store to get a fresh face mask of your choice free.
This product was part of a goodie bag that Lush gave out to people who attended the Charity Pot launch event. Since this was also given to the cute children from SoCare (the charity that Lush India supports), it is quite obvious this is not a product provided to me for review! Still I got it free, and hence the disclaimer :P

ReplyDeleteThere have been many organizations who contribute a part of their sales for the welfare of less privileged children. But contributing 100% of the sales of this one is totally new for me. I respect Lush for that and this makes me want to try the brand even more.
ReplyDeleteMAC does it too with their MAC Viva Glams :)
ReplyDeleteOh I didn't know that :) Thats really nice :)
ReplyDeleteMe neither till some time back :D Actually na, I didn't know anything much about these big makeup brands until maybe 2 years back..and now with reading blogs..
ReplyDeletehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_AIDS_Fund
ReplyDeleteThat is really thoughtful of MAC! If all the big brands start to raise funds like this, I am sure a lot more will benefit. I hope they get some inspiration from this :) Thanks for sharing Rads :)
