L'Oreal Hip Eyeshadow Duos - Shady and Dashing

L'Oreal HIP eyeshadow duos are available in a variety of shades/finishes (check here and here) - I picked up these two shades since I don't really have many matte shades.  True to their name, the shadows are highly pigmented and stay on without creasing.  Shady is a lighter and darker brown while Dashing is a pale pink and black combination.

The packaging consists of two halves.  One side containing the eyeshadow duos and the lower compartment containing a sponge applicator.  I have never bothered with using it, but it's there and makes a racket rattling inside the compartment but other than that it does seem quite useless.

Swatches:  I couldn't get the lighter colours to show up that well on my skin since they are quite similar to my skin colour, but the shadows are quite pigmented and what you see in the pan is the exact colour that you get.

I used the light brown colour all over my lid, the brown towards the outer corner, and the black to line the lower lashline and into the upper lashline.  A bit of black in the outer corner too.  The lighter pink shade I used under my brow.

The Shady duo is a good all-over lid colour for me.  It matches my skin colour perfectly - the lighter shade almost invisible on my lid.  For lighter-skinned people, this would be a nice neutral everyday option.  The Dashing duo has a good matte black eyeshadow and a lighter pink that would work well as a highlighting shade.

Cost:  $8.99

  3. its quite a nice color.....thats only the shadow on the lower line or with a liner...its come out so nicely...i end up spreading it a lot and then rub it off as it looks gastly

  4. I put the Elle18 kajal on waterline and the shadow is along the lashline...if that makes sense. If you have a pointed small brush you can use that..i tho use angled brush - the small tbs one :D

  7. Cali - Hehehee I took..but I felt so stoooopiddd staring at camera and smiling on my own..very very stoooopiddd..and half the photos tho I won't click on time so wrong places got photeeed :P :P :P :P

Peereeeya - you don't take the shadow and brush it like a liner. You try dab the brush pointy end on shadow - then dab the pointy end right into the lashes. Dab in shadow-dab in lash..till the line gets done. I tho don't know how these people just draw lines and not look like pandas. I would look like I forgot to take off my liner and slept about 24 hours that way.

  8. I don't know if this is there in India, but I am okay with the price. And they have tons of different shades! These two are concentrated colour and the matte versions. They have metallic and something else too..

  17. Nice choice in the Hip duos. I had two which ultimately went to the dust bin cos I chose the wrong colors. Dont remember the names it was a black and silver and a shimmery blue with a dark matte blue. Btw, there used to be $2 off coupons on the loreal website. Not sure on now though. I am sure there are lots of coupons somewhere on the web.

  18. Oh Target has them for 6.99 and 20% off loads of stuff if the total order is $75..so if you are buying a huge lot of stuff or sharing then it could work out cheaper.

  19. So pretty! I have this duo in Cheeky..it's a pink & brown combo very nice. I picked it up once at CVS during the 75% off sale and love it! But I kinda felt the whole compartment underneath kinda made it bulky :)

  20. I never found anything useful in the 75% off section - I need to start shopping at the CVS near your place :D I found these cheaper at Target, so maybe will go there next time!
