Avalon Organics Exfoliating Enyme Scrub

Avalon Organics Exfoliating Enzyme Scrub with Lavender - Renewal and Vitality - For Sensitive Skin

I find a lot of natural/organic skincare options in the drugstores here, and one of the brands that I have been trying out recently is Avalon.  I picked up this exfoliating enzyme scrub from CVS about 2 months back - it was on sale and I needed a scrub.

This packaging is very basic with a flip-open cap.  Very simple, very functional.   The scrub lists a whole lot of natural ingredients and generally promises serious skincare goodness in tube.

The product itself is a creamy base with very fine granules that provide excellent exfoliation.  I am assuming these granules are the powdered walnuts (check ingredient list above).  While I have tried so many other scrubs that depend on walnuts for their scrubbing power and many that use resin beads, I have never ever used a scrub with granules that are this smooth or fine.  It's just fabulous.  In fact, the only problem might be to remember not to overscrub mistaking the smoothness of the granules for gentleness!

The scrub leaves my skin clean and soft without overly drying it.  I use this about 2 times a week, and I have never had any skin reaction or irritation with this.  I do take care to scrub very gently - any scrub should be used with just enough pressure to just slide the granules over the skin.  Any more pressure than that is just unnecessary.  The scrub has a bit of a sharp, medicinal smell, and if like me you were expecting something along the lines of the soothing lavender smell found in some soaps/perfumes, this might be a bit disappointing.  It's not unpleasant or irritating in anyway, at least to me.  Definitely one of my favorite skincare products.

Cost:  About $15/100 mL
