I have always associated Illamasqua with the more daring and bold colours in their makeup, shades with attitude that might not always work for everyone.  The new colour-intense lipstick Kontrol that came out the Theater of the Nameless Collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 is a case in point.  A blue-purple (Sephora describes it as a matte deep lavender) matte lipstick that gives it's best colour with just one swipe, this is one colour that is definitely not for the "ordinary" makeup user (errr..me).

The swatch is what you get with one swipe.   The slightly stained colour above
is what you would get if  you used this as a stain with light dabs.

Ingredients

Verdict:  A matte lipstick that is packed with colour, I would definitely recommend Illamasqua as a go-to brand for full coverage lipsticks.  This colour is so obviously not for me, but if you are the kinds who likes to play around with unconventional colours, this would be right up your alley.  As with most matte lipsticks I have tried, these can be drying and/or can enhance even the smallest dry flake on your lip, so make sure your lips are exfoliated and supersmooth before swiping this on.  You could add a layer of clear lip balm over the lipstick, but that would sort of defeat the whole purpose of a matte lipstick, won't it? :D :D

Cost:  $22.00.  Available at Sephora in-store and online.

  1. Have you tried sheering it out and topping with a gloss? I would love an eye shadow in this color! :)

  2. I did use it that way...you need a very very small dab on fingertips and onto the lips and top with a gloss..the colour will be nothing like this but I can use the lipstick that way :D

  5. Love the color, but I'm much too pale to wear such a bold color.

  7. This lipstick is for those who dare to be different just like the brand itself and it's backbone 'Alex box'. :) I'm really eyeing that 'beguile' pure pigment..is it worth investing rads? Because i have 15% off birthday discount from them and i really want to buy something which i can't get anywhere else other than illamasqua.

  10. the tint when dabbed is actually quite nice must say! I can kinda get to it by mixing Sleek Pout Paints :D but then I'd purchse Illamasqua just for their darkness ;)
anyways this one scores way better than my fiasco of NYX lippie in Kona Coffee! lol

  11. Siri - It's nice, but I don't know if it is better than any of the other pigments like from MAC or something because I haven't tried those - but right now there is free shipping na so it won't be tooo expensive to try.

  13. Debbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb.....really????!!! I would never ever dream of calling this an every day use colour! The max I can use it like is to dab dab like a stain and even then it's quite fierce (by my standards at least)...

  14. Ya I would agree if i was still living in India, but in Holland the fierceness you get is as good as they come :D

  16. Hii Sabrina..how are you? These kind of shades are more about attitude than anything else - as long as you have the right attitude to go with it, you can rock the colour. Unfortunately, I am a bit more conservative with my makeup choices...but see...Gaea and you both liked the colour..and from what I know the two of you share the same 'life isn't colourful enough' attitude towards makeup :D :D :D
