Part of Illamasqua's Autumn-Winter 2011 collection - Theatre of the Nameless - the shimmer powder blusher Ambition is described as a neutral shimmer, but this is definitely not a boring neutral.  Packed in the usual Illamasqua packaging which needs a bit of care while opening, the blush looks like a dusty peachy-pink colour with a with a hint of brown to it and fine shimmers scattered throughout.

It is quite powdery and easy to apply without needing any complicated blending.  On a finger swatch it appears like a pale peach blush.  When applied with a light hand it gives a soft peachy-pink shimmery glow to my cheeks and a heavier application brings out the pink shade more.  The blush didn't get picked up well in the photos, so I tried a heavier application, and the blush seemed a brighter chalkier-looking pink (it's not chalky, just looks that way on me if I do a heavier application).

As the Illamasqua website says - "This formulation can provide up to four to five variations of the same shade depending on how lightly or intensely it is applied. Can be used wet for a bolder colour pay-off. Apply by using a blusher brush or an angled blusher brush for more definition."  For me, a light touch is enough to give a natural look so this product is going to last a long while :D

The lighter skin on my fingers brings out the peach tones in the blush.

A heavier swatch on my hand (darker skin) brings out more of the pink tones.
Cost:  $24.00/4.5 g (Available at Sephora stores and online)

With no skin breakouts and good staying power, this is a great easy-to-wear blush for me so long as I use it with just a slight dusting on my cheeks.  The shimmer is not glittery or chunky and is just enough to be seen without crossing over into discoball territory.  Considering I am a person who prefers more subtle colours, and I don't really like matte blushes, this suits me just fine.  Depending on your skin tone, you can play around with heavier application and see how it turns out - it is easy to layer and provides deeper pigmentation, going easily from a subtle glow to a stronger cheek colour with just a few more swipes.
