Another of the L'Oreal Color Riche Star Secrets range of lipsticks, the one I am reviewing today is Kerry's Rosewood (225).
A pale pink lipstick with a hint of peach and tons of silver shimmer in it, the only reason I bought this lipstick was I was in love with Star Secrets range and wanted to pick up just about every colour I could lay my hands on :-| There I said it...and no, it doesn't feel any better, but let's just move on to the review :P :D
Like all lipsticks from this range, the black casing features the signature of the brand ambassador it represents - Kerry Washington in this case. I love the simple yet classy packaging, plus I have had these lipsticks for a long time now (don't ask!), and the packaging looks just the same as new, so no complaints on that.
On to the colour itself, it is a nude/pale pink colour with silver shimmer mixed in. The hint of peach to it is not really obvious on me, but I feel it makes a difference and gives it a bit of warmth.
The texture is quite creamy, and it never dries out my lips. While this colour might not be the best pick for my tanned darker skin, I would have still loved it but for this shimmer. The lipstick itself doesn't stay very long on my lips, disappearing in about 2-3 hours without me putting in much of an effort into removing it. However, it leaves behind the shimmer which then travels all around my mouth. It's messy and quite embarassing - I look like I made a mess of trying to apply some kind of shimmery stuff around my mouth. Not.nice.at.all.
Cost: About $9.00
On my lips, this is how it looks. I pair it with a darker eye makeup to avoid looking washed out. My lips are on the darker side and this lipstick is kind of sheer, so it tends to not look all that pale.
Overall, while I love the texture and even the colour, I do have a big issue with shimmer. Would be a good choice so long as you are not anti-shimmer like I am. Also since it tends to sheer out a bit (probably because of the shimmer particles), so if you have lip pigmentation issues like I do, then you might want to use a lipliner to even out the colour - or not bother too much about it :D

ReplyDeleteLoreal does some of the best or better lippies and then mess it up with some issue or other (if nothing wrong they dont stock it well!) :D

Gaea - I have the papaya something shine gelee...that didn't work out too great on me :| And this one ..they ruined it with the shimmer :(( I love their lipsticks when they get them right :D

ReplyDeleteHi Rads - I must be the only one who loved the shimmer in this lippie :) and loved your smokey eyes too. I must say that your skin is looking great - soft, smooth & glowy.
ReplyDeleteoh if you like the Shine Gelee formula, u must try the sweet tea - that has become my nude on lip color. v subtle and am sure would go on urs too greatly. but i hate storing it in the frigde (esp here in chennai have to!)
ReplyDeleteWowww..how horribly hot is Chennai??!!!!! My main problem with the Shine Gelees at least in India is the price..it costs around 700 and I just cannot agree to paying that much for it :| :| :|
ReplyDeleteSabrina - that's just the lighting I think and of course some help from foundation and the blush :D
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to the shimmer going everywhere..I had a lip gloss with the same problem :|
ReplyDeleteThe shade is sooo pretty na but
I didn't have a tester to try out before buying and I never thought it would be that bad..the colour looked quite nice in the tube :D
ReplyDeleteThis looks so gorgeous in case..but turns out to be a bit frosty na...with shimmers and all..you seem to be carrying it so well..me can't wear such shades!! :( :(
ReplyDeleteNaaah it doesn't look good on me either...is just the camera doesn't pick up the frosty shimmer so much :D
ReplyDeleteI totally fell for the packging radhika.. so pretty.. umm like loreal lipsticks.. is it? Bt shimmers like kinda chunky..I mean softer more blended shimmers would have been nice.
ReplyDeletegrrr.. i had to change my full profile to comment on your blog. It was a major issue logging in and logging out of two emails so i changed it. thsi one was the total gadha profile but I guess it was time i moved one. It is totally handled by others now. A little sad but am okay. :)

ReplyDeleteAwww..is okayyy...am sure you all busy with IMBB anyway...you will get over it :*
ReplyDeleteSkin?? Guess it's just the lighting. I used

Is just lighting only I am sure :D

ReplyDeleteUgh...I hate shimmer lipsticks but love that color! Diane's Tuberose is my go to lipstick.
