Urban Decay Oilsclick 24/7 Glide-On Eyeliner Pencil and Dupe(s)

Creamy, forever-lasting, award-winning and waterproof, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect with the wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and unusually vibrant neutrals.

Urban Decay Glide-On Pencils have quite a fan following in the makeup world for their amazingly soft texture and phenomenal lasting power.  I picked up two of these - Oil Slick and Rockstar - a set of two travel-size pencils.  The Urban Decay Oil Slick pencil is almost-black with silver shimmer mixed in.  The shimmer/glitter is quite obvious and can even be felt while applying the liner - it gives a bit of sandiness to the otherwise supersoft texture.  Despite this slight graininess due to the shimmer particles, the pencil goes on smooth and envely on the skin without any tugging or harshness.

As per Urban Decay, you need to wait about 30 seconds for the liner to set and then it's fairly smudge-proof after that.  That is a somewhat accurate claim.  While the liner does stay on much better than some of the other liners I have tried, the shimmer particles themselves do tend to spread a bit on my eyelid and near the corner of my eyes.  That aside, this is a great liner for anyone who wants something beyond the black and the grey.  The shimmer catches and reflects light beautifully giving the liner a lot more dimension.  I tried using this smudged all over my lids as an eyeshadow and didn't have much luck with the staying power (I didn't use a primer, though), but as a liner I love it.

That's the UD Oil Slick on my eyes.  That's also my usual going-out makeup of late :P :P

Urban Decay Glide-On eyeliners cost about $18 (you can get smaller sizes as part of a set but that's about average) and if you want something similar in terms of colour, you could try the Avon Glimmersticks Diamonds in Black Ice or Smokey Diamonds.  Both are shimmery, but Black Ice leans towards black while Smokey Diamond goes more towards the grey side.  Of course, the UD liner stays on slightly better and is much softer than the Avon pencils, but for a fraction of the cost, Avon is definitely worth a try.

  4. Oil Slick is interesting! I have Zero and Perversion, so I don't think I need any more blacks, but it is quite pretty.
