Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick: La Distinguee

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstick La Distinguee (available here) - $32.50

Elevating matte to a new elegance, this next-generation, non-drying matte lipstick glides on lips with intensely rich colour and a sumptuously soft, velvet matte finish.  La Distinguee is the latest offering from the range (for those in the US) and is the perfect peachy-pink colour just in time for the summers.  Available exclusively online.

Rouge Allure Velvet Lipsticks are matte lipsticks made the Chanel way.  Released a year or so back, a few of the pinks and reds from the range were available in the US.  La Distinguee is a peachy-pink from this range that was released elsewhere but is now available in the US, exclusively online on the Chanel website.

Similar to Chanel Rouge Allure lipsticks, these too come in the same all-black glossy packaging with a spring-push-cap at one end - press to get the lipstick out, press to snap it back in.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet La Distinguee - Swatches/FOTD

Chanel describes this as a peachy-pink matte lipstick, and the description is quite accurate, with the shade pulling more peach or pink depending on the light.  The lipstick is really light weight, almost like a mousse, and it's the closest I have come to wearing nothing on my lips.  Though labelled a matte finish, to me, this is really not a true matte.  It has a bit of a sheen to it - the first thing that comes to my mind is a high-silicone primer.

My Thoughts on the Rouge Allure Velvet Lipstic La Distinguee:  Mostly because of the shades available at the counter, I had resisted buying/trying any of these lipsticks for a while, and La Distinguee is my first lipstick from this range.  A huge Chanel fan, there's not much from Chanel that I wouldn't want to try a second time, so when I hesitate about buying another Rouge Allure Velvet, you might want to sit up and take note :P

The pigmentation is quite opaque and the texture light, but the problem I had was the lipstick felt..hmm..how do I put it..scattered (??) on my lips.  If you look closely, you could probably see it in the photos too, the patchy application, and these are the better photos of the lot!  To be fair, my lips are usually either dry to start with or just waiting to get all flaky at the slightest excuse, so probably this texture is not for me.  It lasts a good 3-4 hours on me, but all the while it clings lovingly to every little flake, real or imagined, on my lips.  I doubt if I would buy another one of these again :(

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet La Distinguee is the perfect summer shade, a beautiful light combination of peach and pink that instantly brightens up the face.  Unfortunately for me, the finish just didn't work for my lips.  I love the shade, though, and would probably pick up a similar one from the superb Rouge Coco range instead.
