Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes feature a gel formula with a bouncy texture. These go on light-weight like powder blushes and melt into the skin like cream for a natural wash of colour. I had previously tried the shade Plum Wine, and I found it a little too subtle for my skin tone. I picked up another shade, though - Candy Coral - a pretty peach-orange colour that seems just right for the summer.
The Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes come in a plastic packaging with clear domed lids, kind of similar to what eyeshadows generally come in. It's not very big, about the same size as the Maybelline baked eye shadows, and is good to carry around in the bag.
The consistency feels almost cushiony and sponge-like, and I use my fingers to pick up product and apply. The finish is quite smooth and almost matte (with maybe a slight sheen) - easy to build up the colour, starting sheer and layering and blending on more product as required. The Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Candy Coral is a peach-orange shade, not too bright or orangey, and because it applies sheer, it gives quite a natural flush (well, as natural as a peachy flush can be :P)
I wasn't expecting much from this blush, especially considering the much darker shade Plum Wine did not show up that well on my skin. Candy Coral, I think, suits my skin tone better and shows up much better, more in real life than in the photos. I love that it is sheer, buildable, and so easy to blend with just my fingers. The finish is smooth and matte and doesn't irritate my sensitive skin. Overall, a fabulous pick for the summers, especially if you are looking for something subtle. I found the wear time reasonable, lasting 5 to 6 hours, which is about how much time I need it to last anyway :DThe Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes come in a plastic packaging with clear domed lids, kind of similar to what eyeshadows generally come in. I think the Plum Wine looks good on you too. The color looks far more interesting comparing to the basic peach or pink blushes. I would love to try out something that bold :)
ReplyDeleteHi Helen :) It does take some layering to build up the colour, so it's quite easy to try!
