On my Nails Today: Chanel Le Vernis Particuliere

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Polish in Particuliere (available here) -$26

They were mixing colors in the lab and I said,
"Stop!," Philips recalls. I took a look at the shade and thought, "This is kind of particular. It's not gray and it's not beige, it's kind of weird." He brought the shade to the women he works with, and they couldn't wait to put it on. "I know when I like a color, but that doesn't mean it makes a good nail polish," said the Belgian-born Philips, who can be credited with helping to legitimize funky nail polish colors and making them acceptable for all women to wear, no matter their age or occupation.

There is just something about Chanel nail polishes.  They get more than their fair share of attention and are definitely some of the most sought after.  Particuliere is one of those colors from Chanel that gets outrageous (-ly high) bids on Ebay.  A taupe-grey shade, I never did (and honestly, still don't) get what's so unique about this shade.  It's a beautiful shade, but I don't get what's special - maybe all the raves just got me all tired :D

Chanel Le Vernis Particuliere - On my Nails

A creamy, dark shade, Particuliere goes on nonstreaky and is fabulously easy to apply. The shade is dark enough to be used as a single coat, but I do feel the richness of the color comes out better with a second coat. I get about a week's wear with most Chanel polishes, and this is no exception. My hands aren't the most pampered, though, so I do end up ruining some of the polish at the nail tips by mid-week :P

Chanel Particuliere brings the best of neutral beige to a dark nail polish.  A simple, classy color, that you just cannot go wrong with!

So, what about you..what's on your nails this week?

  3. This color works really well on you! I like it a lot, but I never felt that I *needed* it--especially because I found Sally Hansen's Commander in Chic. It has a little more purple in it, which I prefer as I think it adds a little more interest. Plus, it's a heck of a lot cheaper! Sold! :P
