Loccitane One Minute Hand Scrub

L'Occitane One Minute Hand Scrub (available here) - $22.00

The L'Occitane One Minute Hand Scrub is a bi-phase formula to provide a salon-style manicure scrub. It combines organic sugars and shea oil, working together to gently exfoliate the skin while nourishing dry and damaged hands.  In just one minute, your nails and cuticles will look neat and clean, leaving your hands perfectly soft!

While I love organic/natural skincare brands, L'Occcitane has been one that I have mostly ignored for a long time.  Ages back, I had walked into one of their stores and walked out totally unimpressed and underwhelmed.  Fastforward to now, and I find myself wandering into the L'Occitane store every other weekend and invariably leaving with a new product to love!  The L'Occitane One Minute Hand Scrub is my latest crush :D

The scrub comes packaged in a wide-mouthed plastic tub and the packaging includes a small plastic spatula to mix and scoop out the scrub with.  The biphase formula has an enormous amount of oil and the sugar particles stay settled at the bottom of the tub.  The product has a pleasant, slightly herbal fragrance to it which I love.  The wide-mouthed tub design makes it convenient to use, but once opened (comes packed with a seal over the mouth) traveling anywhere with this is impossible due to leakage.

How to Use the L'Occitane One Minute Hand Scrub

At first glance, the scrub seemed to have an excessive amount of oil with hardly any sugar, but the folks at L'Occitane got it all just right with this scrub.  To use, mix the oil and the sugar with the spatula (or you could just use your fingers).  Scoop a generous amount out on to dry hands.  Scrub for about a minute, concentrating on the rougher/drier bits like the area around the nails.

The results:  Hands that feel soft and smell amazing!  The oil is light and once you wash off the scrub, a slight trace is all that remains of it.  It's best to followup with a hand cream to lock in the softness and the moisture.  A few things to remember while using this scrub:
  • Always mix up the scrub to a smooth consistency before every scoop.
  • Use a generous scoop and ensure that you get a good quantity of oil and sugar particles on to your hand.  This helps the scrub move better on the skin, making it more effective while staying gentle.
  • Since this is used on dry skin, it's best to use very gentle pressure while scrubbing.  Overscrubbing can make the skin feel a bit raw.
  • Though this is labeled as a hand scrub, it works wonders on the feet too!
A fabulous, though expensive, scrub that works just as great on my feet as it does on my hands.  This stays on my must-have list until L'Occitane stops making it!  Unfortunately, I did see this listed as "limited edition" at Nordstrom.

  3. This one sounds lovely, but honestly I don't see the point of having a separate hand scrub. I've never exfoliated my hands before, first of all--but if I ever wanted to, I think my face or body scrub would work just fine :P
