Friday Face of The Day: Brown Smokey Eyes with a Hint of Green

Up until about a month or so ago, I was wondering if there was much of a summer here - sunny California seemed to have a pretty pale summer! All that has changed now, though, and all I want to do on weekends is crank up the AC and sleep..okay the second part isn't really weather-related :P  The makeup world seems to be on another planet, though, with fall/holiday collections popping all over the place, and it got me wanting to try out one of autumn's staple trends - a smoky eye with brown and green/teal.  (Fall makeup trend to look out for:  A brighter take on the smokey eye with colors such as brown, purple, blue, and green for a pop of color to offset the dark  eye.)

I used a forest green gel liner as a base all over my lids.  Used a dark brown pencil close to the lash lines and on the waterline.  Used a darker brown shadow all over the lid and patted a teal shadow in the inner half to give it a greenish sheen.  Used the lighter beige shade to blend near the crease and finished with my favorite black mascara.  I should have paired it with a coral lip but went a beige route with Maybelline My Mahogany topped with Chanel Sweet Beige.

Maybelline Forest gel liner; Chanel Eyeliner in Brun Intense; Chanel Eyeshadow Duo Sable-Emouvant; Maybelline MegPlush Mascara.  The line teal shadow in the photo actually came off an old Chanel quad (Birds of Paradise) that I rarely use yet somehow managed to break apart :-|
So, what did you try out makeup-wise this week?
