Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lipstick Enjouee: Review, Swatches, FOTD.

Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lipstick in Enjouee (available here) - $34

Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense lipsticks are the next generation of lipsticks from the brand.  The new formula features concentrated, ultra-thin pigments that offer radically intense colour with full coverage and a satin finish.  Leaves lips supple and protected with lasting comfort.  Enjouee is a pink coral shade from this new range.

The packaging is the same as the old Rouge Allure lipsticks, but the formula does seem a bit different.  The finish is satin, as Chanel describes it, and it's almost similar to the Rouge Allure Velvet, with just a tad more shine to it.  All the lipsticks I have tried from this range are extremely pigmented, and Enjouee is no exception.  It's a bright coral pink and is just a bright pop of color.

Only while I was taking the photos did I notice there is fine shimmer in the lipstick, but it's not seen on the swatches at all.

I am not a fan of the Rouge Allure Velvets, and the Rouge Allure Intense lipsticks feature a similar finish - less of a creamy finish and more of a satin texture.  The texture seems to vary slightly between colors, but in general lighter colors like Enjouee seem better suited for perfectly prepped lips.  Any slight flakiness gets noticed, and for a dry-lipped person like me, that's a problem!  I used a lip brush to apply the color and found the application much smoother.  The lipstick doesn't dry out my lips or settle into lines, though.  The pigmentation is rich and opaque, and the bright color looks just as beautiful if applied sheered out (or as it fades).  The lasting power is about 3 hours, and it fades with meals but leaves a tint.

MAC Crosswires - Chanel Enjouee:  Comparison

The first thing I thought when I swatched Enjouee was that it might be an exact dupe for MAC's popular lipstick Crosswires.  Both are pink-coral lipsticks and have a similar finish (MAC Crosswires is much more creamy).  On side-by-side swatches/photos though, MAC Crosswires is just a tad darker while Chanel Enjouee is a more vibrant, brighter coral pink - Crosswires features more coral while Enjouee has more pink.  I still think, though, that you could use one instead of the other and get away with it, and at a little less than half the price of a Chanel, MAC Crosswires would be an affordable dupe for this color imo :D

Overall, the new Chanel Rouge Allure Intense in Enjouee is a beautiful bright coral pink that is sure to brighten any skin tone but would look best on the lighter skin tones.  Personally, I am not used to wearing bright shades, so this does take a bit of an effort to step out of the house with.  The Rouge Allure Intense lipsticks have enough pigmentation to look pretty even sheered out, and it's an easier way to wear bright shades such as Enjouee.  If you prefer creamy/glossier finishes, you might prefer Rouge Coco Shines, but Rouge Allure Intense lipsticks would score in terms of their awesome pigmentation.

    1. It probably lasts longer, but I usually end up eating something or the other so that's the maximum I would get with anything :P :D

  2. Now I am so confused - both about the shade and the lipstick itself.

I love Coco Shines any day and I am sure to get at least 3 of them. Enjouee was in my wish list and it looks nice on you, so probably it will look good on me too :P Will try it another time and decided :D Might be I'll just get one of these lipsticks and shall decide the shade later..
Ok, Now do you understand how confused I am :s

Same with me I can hardly manage a lipstick for 3 hrs :D

  3. You look so fab in bright shades like this. Too bad about it accentuating dry lips though--I have perma-dry lips too, so I feel your pain! :P
