I have been wanting to try out the new Mega Plush Volum Express mascara from Maybelline ever since the ads started showing up on TV.  I know...to buy a product based on those claims is just ridiculous, but what can I say, those guys sure know their marketing!  A quick trip to Target, and I came back home armed with a tube to try out.

The Maybelline MegaPlush mascara claims two main plush points - a light weight texture and a flexor brush.  More on the texture in a bit.  The brush has densely packed soft, short bristles which help spread the mascara evenly through the lashes.  The "flexor" portion is a joint of sorts that gives a bit of flexibility to the brush.  This is my favorite part of the mascara.  It helps apply the mascara without getting even a tiny bit on my eyelid - a first for me!  A hint on using the brush:  Unlike the conventional way of using a mascara wand, avoid using a zig zag motion with this brush.  The flexing would make it very awkward.  Instead, use a sweeping motion along the length of the lash.

The mascara is light and goes on easily without clumping the lashes.  The effect is soft, lengthened, yet very natural-looking lashes.  Perfect if you are looking for lengthening, darkening but not so much for volume/thickness.

I love everything about the new Maybelline Mega Plush mascara!  I have enough lashes on my own, so what I look for in a mascara is some definition for my lashes, darkening, lengthening, and of course, no clumps.  The Maybelline Mega Plush does all that.  Plus, the lightweight formula ensures that lashes stay soft to touch.  Despite being a washable version, I haven't faced any flaking issues either.  Overall, a great mascara...for me.  It doesn't provide much in terms of dramatic volume or curve, so if that's what you are looking for, you might be left disappointed.

    1. As long as you aren't expecting dramatic volume or curl, this is good :)

  6. I tried the other Volum Express mascara and I really didn't like it. It didn't give me much volume at all and the brush was SO large and in charge! :P I am really curious about this particular formula though--the gel-mousse consistency sounds nice

    1. Hmm..I didn't really think about it, but I guess it's because it's gel-mousse sorts that it doesn't get all goopy on the wand either.
