Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick: Party Pink

Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks are among the best drugstore lipsticks, striking a perfect balance between pricing and quality, and with 68 shades, there's sure to be a shade for every skin tone.  I got hooked on to these lipsticks when I tried the much raved about My Mahogany, and I got tempted into buying a few more when they were BOGO at CVS.  The lipstick I am reviewing today is the Maybelline Color Sensational in Party Pink.

Maybelline packages these lipsticks with a color-coding of sorts - the deep berry casing helps identify the plums, berries, and pinks in the Color Sensational range.  These lipsticks also have a caramel-toffee smell to them, and I fall into the group that doesn't really mind it :P  Maybelline Color Sensational lipstick in Party Pink in the tube looks like a soft mauve-based pink with barely visible tiny shimmer scattered throughout.  The shimmer is only seen in the tube and only when I look really closely.

Party Pink is opaque and creamy with a smooth, almost-glossy finish.  What looks like a muted mauve in the tube explodes into a brighter fushia-based pink on the lips.  It's a color that absolutely has to be the center of attention, and it's best to keep the rest of the makeup to a minimum when you wear this lipstick.

Despite being a brighter shade than what I generally reach for, I quite like this one.  I think it's the bit of fuschia/mauve mixed in with the bright pink that makes this lipstick an instant brightener for my face.  With a lasting power of about 3 to 4 hours and a creamy, smooth texture that doesn't feather, settle into lines, or dry out my lips, Maybelline Color Sensational in Party Pink is definitely a winner.  A hint of brown eyeliner and a subtle blush is all I need to face the day :D

Looks really good on you..I havent seen this shade in my place though, would love to check it out..My go-to bright lipstick is impassioned, have you tried that?I am not a fan of Mac texture though, bit drying..btw,I feel you are lil light handed on the blush department :) I can hardly see it on your face ever..I know you are scared of clown cheeks, but you can go a little more easy I swear..:)

    1. Haven't tried Impassioned..I found MAC textures okay..not very moisturizing but didn't have issues with drying either..guess I got lucky :D The blush doesn't get picked up on my camera..and it's true I do apply very sparingly..it's okay for real life but with photos I think I do need to be much more heavy handed :D
