Chanel released the new (reformulated?) Rouge Allure Luminous Intense lipsticks recently, and since I did love the original Rouge Allure formula I took a risk and bought a couple of these newer lipsticks to try out. So far, it's been a mixed bag - the formula features a satin texture and fabulous pigmentation, but the texture is quite similar to the Rouge Allure Velvets and not the ideal for my lips. The shade I am reviewing today is Pimpante (that's French for perky, or so Google tells me). Chanel describes the shade as a "soft peach," and it's just that. It's a warm, light peach that would look lovely on lighter skin tones. Read on for photos and swatches.
Chanel Rouge Allure Intense lipstick in Pimpante is definitely a color I don't own, and despite looking too light for my darker skin tone, it does manage to work for me (if I pair it with the right eye makeup and outfit). However, depending on how dry my lips are, the finish can look downright patchy - for someone with lips as dry as mine, I guess Rouge Coco Shines are a better pick in terms of finish. Lasting power on the Rouge Allure Intense lipsticks is about 3 hours, and I haven't had much luck with anything surviving a meal. You would love these, though, if you are a fan of the Rouge Allure Velvets and/or have reasonably normal lips :)
On a side note: It's the time of the year when a lot of holiday/fall collections roll out, and with Fashion's Night Out just a few days away, there is a lot of Chanel that's going to be featured here. I will try to fit in other brands when/if I can, but I do have time limitations and can only do so much - so Chanel overdose ahead; you have been warned :P

As with all the Rouge Allure Intense lipsticks I have tried so far, there is very fine shimmer scattered throughout the lipstick - visible only on really close close-up photos... |
On swatches, the color shows as a soft, light peach (with maybe a hint of orange to it) - and that shimmer I mentioned earlier..no sign of that anywhere. |
