On My Nails Today!

The classic French manicure - which, btw, is touted to be the next big nail trend thanks to Chanel - is designed to resemble natural nails with a transparent or a pale pink base and white tips.  Probably because I really don't know how to do it properly, but I haven't quite liked the effect on my nails at least.  I have been seeing a lot of colored versions of the French manicure floating around on the web, though, and most of them seem quite fun.  My favorite is this YSL campaign with mixed colors, but I decided to stick to the 2-color basics for now.  I kept it more on the neutral side with a peachy-brown shade as a base and a darker taupe-brown as the tip color.  I amn't very good with getting smooth lines with a brush - just started using a nail art brush - so I did end up the mixing the colors a bit, and the tip looks more khaki than brown.  Thank goodness for top coats, though!  It does cover up a lot of the unevenness :D

For those of you who are wondering but too polite to ask, I was trying out a fishtail manicure
on my thumb and, of course, just let that stay the way it was :D
