Considering I wasn't too enamored by the first of the Clifton Chronicles - Only Time Will Tell - I wasn't expecting anything great from the sequel - The Sins of The Father. I got mine from the library, and going by the number of holds on it, the book sure is popular! Jeffrey Archer attempts to weave a masterful tale, split into 3 book with each one ending with a twist that's almost expected of an Archer book. The Sins of the Father picks up right where the first book ends, with Harry Clifton facing 6 years in prison for a crime he did not commit but somewhat reassured that his act would convince everyone back home in England that he was dead. Emma Barrington, however, refuses to believe this and journeys to the US to find Harry, clear his name, and bring him back home.
My enthusiasm for some of Jeffrey Archer's more recent books have been lukewarm at best, and this one is no exception. My verdict: If you haven't read the first book, save yourself the trouble and skip the sequel.
It's been a while since I picked up a book, so this was a fun post to do. Have you read any books you lately? Any likes? Some of my favorites from Jeffrey Archer include:
