I picked up the Diorshow New Look Mascara as part of the Diorshow New Look Set - a kit containing this mascara along with a mini-eyeshadow 5 Couleur Eyeshadow palette in Grege (($28.50, same price as buying the mascara alone!). I have tried the original Diorshow mascara, and quite liked it, plus I was basically getting to try out the eyeshadow palette for free, so I really couldn't resist it. The mascara tube is one of the fattest I have seen in a long time, and inside this fat tube is the skinniest mascara wand I have ever seen!
One look at the skinny wand, and my heart started sinking. My mascara applications skills aren't great to start with, and a brush with hardly any visible bristles didn't seem like it would make things any easier. Of course, I hadn't read the "layer over" suggested usage before buying! Anyway, so I decided to give this a try, and here's what I think of it: I have used it on it's own and not layered over any other mascara. The Diorshow New Look mascara is quite dark (I have the black shade) and despite the skinny wand, it does a decent job of applying the mascara. The product seems quite concentrated, so just a slight brush with the wand is sufficient to get most of it on the lashes. Now, I have a pretty thick cluster of lashes, so I am not really looking for volume. This gives length and darkness to my lashes, but does not do too well in terms of volume. A single coat is enough for me, but if I was looking to add more coats it tends to make my lashes clumpy. That's the only problem I had with this mascara. Here's how it looks on me - no scary close-ups of my eyes, but I think this should give you an idea...
