I picked up the Diorshow New Look Mascara as part of the Diorshow New Look Set - a kit containing this mascara along with a mini-eyeshadow 5 Couleur Eyeshadow palette in Grege (($28.50, same price as buying the mascara alone!).  I have tried the original Diorshow mascara, and quite liked it, plus I was basically getting to try out the eyeshadow palette for free, so I really couldn't resist it.  The mascara tube is one of the fattest I have seen in a long time, and inside this fat tube is the skinniest mascara wand I have ever seen!

One look at the skinny wand, and my heart started sinking.  My mascara applications skills aren't great to start with, and a brush with hardly any visible bristles didn't seem like it would make things any easier.  Of course, I hadn't read the "layer over" suggested usage before buying!  Anyway, so I decided to give this a try, and here's what I think of it:  I have used it on it's own and not layered over any other mascara.  The Diorshow New Look mascara is quite dark (I have the black shade) and despite the skinny wand, it does a decent job of applying the mascara.  The product seems quite concentrated, so just a slight brush with the wand is sufficient to get most of it on the lashes.  Now, I have a pretty thick cluster of lashes, so I am not really looking for volume.  This gives length and darkness to my lashes, but does not do too well in terms of volume.  A single coat is enough for me, but if I was looking to add more coats it tends to make my lashes clumpy.  That's the only problem I had with this mascara.  Here's how it looks on me - no scary close-ups of my eyes, but I think this should give you an idea...

Overall, the Diorshow New Look mascara is okayyy.  I didn't layer it, so I don't know how that works, but on it's own, I need to do go over with a lash comb if I use more than 1 coat of this mascara.  It is quite pigmented and adds darkness and length while holding the curl beautifully, but in terms of dramatic volume, I couldn't get it to perform without clumping.  I got this mascara as part of the set, so my review is a bit biased - I think it's okay if you get it along with that free eyeshadow palette, but on it's own, I would probably spend the money on the original Diorshow or any other fabulous mascara which doesn't need so much of an effort.  I have the water-removable version - comes off easily enough with makeup remover and a soap-and-water wash.

even I saw the wand and thought "would never work on me" my lashes are poker straight :(

    1. Oh..but don't you use a curler? My lashes are all poky and in all different directions - look horrid if I don't use an eyelash curler :P

  4. I've never been too impressed with Dior mascaras, too clumpy for me. I do like the the little eyeshadow quint.

  5. This one is a bit difficult to work with all right, but the quint does make up for it :D
