Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick: A Bit of Berry

Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in A Bit of Berry:  A creamy, pink lipstick with a hint of berry to it, this lipstick is the typical Maybelline Color Sensational.  The pigmentation is opaque with a single swipe, yet the texture is light and creamy.  While not really hydrating, the Color Sensational lipsticks are some of the most lip-friendly ones I have, and A Bit of Berry is no exception.  It also has the caramel toffee sort of smell to it, that I personally don't mind much, and I don't really notice it much once I am done applying the lipstick.  While the lipstick looks like a brownish plum in the tube, on my lips it looks more like a brighter mauve-pink (something it shares with MAC Captive!).  With a brighter shade like this, I prefer playing it safe and going with neutral eyes and a clean face - a barely there pink blush to avoid looking too washed out.  Scroll on for photos and swatches:

This is one lipstick where my my swatches are quite unreliable.  I doubt if it is going look this pink on anyone, so in case you LOVE such bright shades and run out and get this because of my post - I am putting out a disclaimer - swatch before you buy!  :P :P :D   That said, I am guessing this shade would turn out a brighter pinkish-berry (rather than a darker plum) on just about everyone.  I bought it without swatching, and I am still getting used to wearing this in "real life."  If you love brighter lipsticks and/or can carry off a brighter lip color, do give this affordable lipstick a try - it could be your alternative to the classic red lip.

  1. I love the colour and it really suits you. Nice to see someone wearing something other than red, blood red or peachy pink.

  7. Hey! This colour isn't available on the counters (I've checked a lot of places in Bangalore). The same problem with Maybelline Colorsensational Coral Crush. Searched everywhere, even online but didn't find it. :/
Can you please suggest some good online shopping sites (fashion and cosmetics) which offer cash on delivery mode of payment? I'm not very comfortable with bank transfers and stuff like that. :)

  8. Hi Ahwini :) I am so sorry, I really cannot help you out with shopping options for this. I did not buy this in India, but I remember seeing it online somewhere when I did get it. Apparently it isn't to be found anywhere anymore :((

  9. I'm usually not a fan of mauve colors but this looks interesting. Even looks better on you because you have such full lips. I wish I had lips like you :)

    1. :D :D Mine aren't too full either..but brighter colors do tend to make lips look that way :D
