Sephora Pantone Universe Precious Metals Shadow Palette - Swatches

Sephora + Pantone Universe Precious Metals Shadow Palette (available here) - $48

The extraordinary partnership between Sephora, the beauty authority, and Pantone, the global color authority, continues to deliver the trendiest shades of the season, from precious metals to fiery bronze, in superb formulations and finishes.  The new Sephora + Pantone Universe Precious Metals Shadow Palette is a sleek eye shadow palette containing 35 gorgeous, harmonious shades inspired by Pantone’s 2013 Plus Series Metallic Book.  This season is all about the rich gleam of rose gold, the chilled shine of silver, and the fiery glow of bronze. This expansive palette includes hues in a mix of matte, shimmer, pearlescent, and metallic finishes to create a variety of stunning looks. The unique combination of esters, emollients, and vitamins create a soft and creamy texture that allows color to spread smoothly and evenly across your lids for gorgeous, long-lasting wear.  Apply shades wet for a more intense look or layer colors for a unique shade all your own.

I went to Sephora today to return something I had picked up online - love their customer service and no-questions-asked hassle-free returns!  It should have been a quick 5-minute work, but I got distracted by the very sleek looking Sephora + Pantone Universe Precious Metals Shadow Palette with its beautifully pigmented and buttery smooth, almost UD-like, eye shadows.  There are a lot of wearable colours in this palette, something I prefer much more than the brighter, more adventurous shades.  Last year's Tangerine Tango palette was a big disappointment for me, and I was quite certain that this palette too would be just the same - all style and no substance - but going by what I swatched, this seems to quite the opposite!  Here are some swatches - all without primer and the eyeshadows swatched dry - natural lighting.

I think this would make a great gift for anyone who loves eye makeup, and at $48 for a lot of really wearable pigmented eyeshadows, it does seem like a good deal.  Oh, and I almost forgot, the packaging is the makeup world's version of a Mac Air :D
