Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry is the second one I am trying out from this line. I got this as part of the Clinique Whole Lotta Love set, so it's almost the same as a regular size Chubby. The color looks a darker berry pink in the tube/pencil but sheers to a beautiful berry pink tint on lips. This is a twist-up pencil and because it is so sheer, it works even if it's a dull, rounded tip.

Clinique Chubby Sticks won't really be anyone's first pick for the dark, vampy look. They promise sheer washes of color in a very lip friendly formula, and that is just what Super Strawberry does. On swatches and on my lips, the color is a beautiful, sheer pink with a hint of berry. The color would look lovely on clearer/less pigmented lips, and on my darker lips, the already sheer color does get a bit lost, but here's a look at the color - swatch and on me.

ReplyDeleteWon't replace a lip balm for really dry lips like I have, but I can wear these without worrying about my lips getting dried out like with some lipsticks/tints. Chubby Sticks are definitely better on less pigmented lips than mine though :D

Hi..a lot of brands have non-shimmmer lipsticks! Maybelline Colorsensatinals, LOreal Color Riches both have lipsticks without shimmer - you do have to check the lipstick before you buy, though, because not every shade is shimmer-free in these. Revlon Colorbursts have some lovely shades. MAC has loads of lipsticks without shimmer (look for non-Frost) finishes. MUFE also has some lovely shades in their Rouge Artist Intense and Natural ranges.
ReplyDeleteIf you go on to the Sephora/MAC websites, you can click on each color to get a brief description of each color - irridiscents/frost, etc., = shimmers :D
Irrespective of how much you want to spend on a lipstick, you would definitely find such shades in a lot of brands :)
