MAC Lipstick Freckletone (available here) - $15
Colour plus texture for the lips in a lustre finish. Exclusive Year of the Snake design embossed on the lipstick. The design is a celebration of the 2013 Chinese New Year and the luxury-loving individuals born under its sensual sign and features exclusive packaging, slithering with chic.MAC lipstick Freckletone is descried as a "neutral peach" and is a lustre finish lipstick that is available all-year round as part of MAC's permanent line. The lipstick I am reviewing now was released as part of the Chinese New Year inspired MAC Year of the Snake makeup collection, and unlike the lipstick from the regular collection, this one has a snake embossed on the lipstick. The packaging also is a little different - a snake-inspired sleeve covers the usual black package that the lipstick comes in. That apart everything else is the (I am assuming, since I haven't tried the regular one). Scroll on for photos and swatches.
MAC Freckletone is a creamy nude with a healthy dose of peach mixed in. The lustre finish makes this a sheerer color, but it does show up easily enough, both on my skin swatches as well as on my lips. Here's a look at the swatch on my hand.

MAC Lipstick Freckletone is definitely my new favorite nude lipstick. Unlike the pink nudes that totally wash me out, I find peach tones much easier to use on my darker skin tone. The sheerer finish coupled with my unevenly pigmented lips does mean that on it's own, this lipstick can look a bit patchy on my lips, but it's an issue easily solved with a lipliner. Freckletone feels quite comfortable on my lips - almost like a moisturizing lipstick - and lasts about 2 to 3 hours. Here's how the color looks on me.
| MAC Lipstick - Freckletone On my eyes, I have used shades from the MAC Caramel Sundae eyeshadow quad (part of the MAC Archie's Girls Makeup Collection). |
MAC Freckletone would be a perfect lipstick to pair with darker/smokey eye makeup. Do give this a try (if you haven't already), especially if you like peachy lipsticks.
Such a lovely nude shade :)
ReplyDeleteIt definitely is! :) Not sure if you like peachy lipsticks, but I think you should give it a try next time you are at the MAC store.

DeleteThanks for the visit! This is in relation to the Burberry Lip Glows... I couldn't decide between Mallow Pink and Pink Sweet Pea so I bought both, and Coral Pink! :)
DeleteYou bought all THREEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! I am going to get nightmares tonight :D :D :D
DeleteI love that shade!
ReplyDeleteIt would look pretty on you, Mara :)
DeleteWhat lipliner did you use?
ReplyDeleteHi Diana..I use a brownish lipliner from Shiseido - Vintage Sepia - I don't think it's available in stores. It's a freebie I got ages back. Is just very similar to my normal lip color so I use it with any lipstick that is a little transparent/patchy, so it evens out my lip color. I don't bother with matching the lipliner with the lipstick..this one is sufficient for all the colors :D I don't use one with more opaque lipsticks, though.
DeleteI love such peachy nudes and this one is sooooooooo gorgeous! It's looking so pretty on you...and I love ur smokey eyes in this look too.
ReplyDeleteAnd speaking of freckles, I just wish my freckles were so peachy toned rather than dark brown :(
