MAC Lipstick Plumful (Year of the Snake Makeup Collection) - Review, Swatches, FOTD

MAC Lipstick Plumful (available here) - $15

Part of the 2013 Chinese New Year inspired MAC Year of the Snake Makeup Collection, Plumful is a lustre finish lipstick described as a "blooming rose-plum."  The lipstick features a snake design embossing, and the packaging also has the snake-inspired design sleeve covering the usual black packaging.  This is the special edition packaging for the Year of the The Snake collection, but Plumful is part of MAC's regular lineup and is easily available any time in the normal packaging/design - in case you are still a Gryffindor loyalist :P

MAC's idea of special-edition packaging is this colorful sleeve that goes over the usual black cover.  Thankfully, the lipstick itself also features a snake embossing on it as an added feature, but considering these lipsticks cost the same as the plain versions, I guess I shouldn't grumble too much.

MAC Plumful is a beautiful pinkish plum shade that at least on my skin seems to have a hint of mauve to it.  The finish is creamy, glossy, and slightly sheer.  Here's how it swatches on my skin, and that is pretty much how it looks on my lips too.

MAC Plumful is an easy choice for me when I want to wear plums without going the vampy/dark berry route.  Because of it's slightly sheer finish, I think the natural lip color influences how the color looks on the lips - on my lips, I find this leans sort of pinkish-mauve.  I like how comfortable this lipstick feels on my lips, and I get about 3 hours of wear time with this (should last longer, but I haven't tried it out yet).  Do give this a try if you are on the lookout for a wearable plum lipstick.

    1. Thank you, Shalini! Hope you find it soon..stores in India are out of stock of a lot of the more popular shades, aren't they? I remember waiting for Feline Kohl to turn up in Bangalore, but none of the stores had it :(

    1. Heheheee..is just for now that I have access, so I am indulging a bit. When I was in India, I must have gone to the MAC stores hardly once or twice in my life :D

As of now nothing, Dollie. I keep telling I want to sell stuff, but I really never get around to doing anything :|

  8. I love this lipstick and have been loyal to this since past 3 years. I just bought a new one from permanent line and then MAC came up with this collection. I just luv snake print and overall packaging of this lippie. But I can't buy a new one just for the packaging right..i was about to give up and buy it anyway and you helped me from doing that..I am a true gryffindor loyal ;) and I can tell that to myself whenever I feel the need to buy it :)
    It looks fab on you!:)

    1. Haaa..I knew there would be someone that would appeal to :D :D If you already have the regular-line lipstick, I think you can easily skip this. Sure, it's snake-print and all, but it really isn't worth buying 2 of the same thing. I didn't have either of these colors, so it was an easy decision for me!
