I got the Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick in Brun Creatéur (103) as this month's now-sold-out Beauty Insider Perk at Sephora. The original Givenchy Le Rouge lipsticks - the full size ones - feature a leather casing and the Givenchy logo embossed on the bullet. They also cost $36, so I have no complaints about my free miniature lipstick missing the leather and the logo :P Anyway, moving on the lipstick, I am not sure how the original one is packaged, but the mini features quite fancy packaging. A tiny slide-out-box cover holds the lipstick that comes wrapped in thin white paper - pretty precious indeed!

Givenchy Le Rouge lipstick in Brun Creatéur (103) is described as a dusty rose color, but I would describe this as a soft brownish-peachy/coral lipstick, more peach than brown. This is the sort of color that can turn a hideous orange on me, but I have never been able to resist the lure of a free product, and I picked this up anyway. Turns out, just this once, a little bit of greed didn't hurt - the color is quite a soft peachy brown on me, and it instantly brightens my face. The formula is a dream to apply, so soft and easy to glide on, very pigmented, and it dries to a powdery velvet finish. It is not a very long-lasting lipstick, but it definitely is the best sort-of-matte lipstick I have ever tried. I might like this a teeny bit more than even the Burberry Long-Wear Velvette Matte lipsticks, though Burberry would score in terms of lasting power.

Unfortunately, this light-flooded-washed-out photo of mine does no justice to how pretty the color really is. The swatch on my hand is a more accurate representation of the color. On me, this can pass off for a peachy brown because my lips are quite pigmented, but on someone with lighter lips, this might look more of a brownish coral (not really drastically different, but I just had to add it in). Givenchy Brun Creatéur (103) does seem like the perfect peachy coral lipstick for spring/summer with just the right amount of brown to make it wearable across a wide range of skintones. The formula is fabulous, and this truly is a lipstick that lives up to its luxury claims. Pricey, yes, but definitely my favorite among the newer semi-matte/velvet finishes that a lot of high-end brands have come up with of late, all at similar price points.
