Chanel Fall 2013 Makeup Collection - Sneak Peek - Photos, Swatches

Update: CHANEL FALL 2016 MAKEUP COLLECTION - LE ROUGE NO.1 - SWATCHES HERE

Chanel Superstition Fall 2013 Makeup Collection - Photos Swatches

It's a little difficult to imagine fall when it's so bright and sunny outside and the AC has to be cranked up to the coldest setting most days, but someone at Chanel decided it's just the right time to launch the Fall 2013 makeup collection.  Nordstrom has most of the collection available online, though a few of the products are still on back order.  The main attraction, of course, are the cream blushes - Le Blush Creme de Chanel - newly launched as part of the fall 2013 collection.  Also included are 2 eyeshadow singles, an eyeshadow quad, and a couple of lipsticks and nail polishes.  Here's a look at what I bought and some swatches.

Le Blush Creme de Chanel - Cream Blushes - Fantastic, Presage, Revelation

Chanel has added cream blushes to it's range of blushes, and these new cream-to-powder blushes seem quite nice from what I can tell with initial swatches.  The blush compact/pan is quite small, exactly the same size as the Chanel eyeshadow duo compacts, and they are priced at $38 each.

These aren't the best swatches, but hopefully they do give an idea about the pigmentation.

The blushes seem fabulous, and even the softer Revelation seemed to have no problem showing up on my darker skin (on hand swatches).  The compacts do seem quite small, but that's probably because I am used to the much bigger powder blushes.  A small bit gives sufficient color, and the intensity can be built up or toned down as desired.  I used my fingers for the swatches, but I would use a brush to apply these just to keep the blush surface clean (or use a Q-tip to pick up the product on to the back of my hand and then use).

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick - Mystique

Chanel Fall 2013 makeup collection includes 6 new lipsticks (Rouge Coco and Rouge Coco Shines), but I only picked up one of the lipsticks.  The shade I got is Mystique, described as a bright warm apricot, and that is exactly what it looks like.

Rouge Coco Hydrating Creme Lipstick in Mystique is a bright, creamy apricotto and is definitely my favorite product from this collection.  I hope the color looks just as good when I try it on myself, though :P

Chanel Fall 2013 Makeup Collection

Chanel single eyeshadows - Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch eyeshadows- are some of my favorites products from Chanel.  The color payoff and texture of these eyeshadows are generally quite good.  As part of the fall 2013 collection, Chanel has released two of these eyesahdow - Gri-Gri (metallic taupe) and Hasard (brownish matte lavender).  Both the colors are quite soft and neutral (well, as neutral as a metallic can get) and I think would look good on just about any skin tone.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres – Quadra Eye Shadow - Mystere

Mystere is the perfect fall eyeshadow quad - dark shimmering khaki, satin greyish taupe, matte brownish khaki, and a creamy ivory make this a fool-proof smokey eye quad.  I just had to buy this quad, and the fact that it comes in the soft, powdery US version is just the icing on the cake.  From the swatches, the darker shimmering khaki does seem a bit powdery, but all 4 colors are equally pigmented and very soft.  I am hoping the quality would be just as great on the eyes, but for now here's a look at the quad and swatches.

Chanel Fall 2013 Makeup Collection

Overall, I found the Chanel Fall 2013 Makeup Collection (Superstition - though, I don't know the proper name) a lovely fall-appropriate collection.  The cream blushes seem to live up to the expectations of any new Chanel release, and I think there is definitely a color here for every skin tone.  Generally, cream blushes look scarier in the pan and when freshly applied, but tend to settle into the skin and tone down quite a bit after a few minutes.  I would definitely suggest trying these blushes at the counter if they seem darker in the photos.  The eyeshadow - both the quad and the singles - I love, though of course, my favorite for now is the Rouge Coco lipstick in Mystique.  I haven't bought the nail polishes, mostly because I think the colors might be similar to what I have already and am not planning on picking up any of the other lipsticks unless I see some amazing swatches somewhere.

  1. Ooh, Hasard and Gri Gri look wonderful on you. Maybe I need to take a closer look at those two. I also really think their single eye shadows are among the best in the line!

:) We've done a Vulcan mind meld. I've purchased the same three blushes as you. I'm looking forward to seeing them on your lovely cheeks soon.

  2. Haa..I want to see how they turn out on you..especially Fantastic. I am not sure it's going to go on too good on my cheeks :| Oh do give the two singles a try..I think they will look good together, though from my brief swatching experience Hasard does seem a bit sheer - never know how it will turn out on eyes..

  9. Could you tell me please how Revelation compares to YSL Creme de blush 09 from Spring collection?) They seem to be a bit similar

    ReplyDelete
  10. Hi Maria..I don't have the YSO creme blush 09, but from the swatches I have, I think Revelation is more of a warm rose - looks like it has some peach undertones when it goes on - while YSL blush is pure pink..no warm/peach tones to it. You can check the YSL blush swatch here:

    3. Oh, sorry, I didn't read that post carefully and thought that you had that collection!
      But they're still close, right?)

      Delete
    4. No problem, Maria..:D Hmm..I think the other two..Affinite or Inspiration (much lighter) might be closer than this because those are pure pinks..no other tones mixed in. Revelation goes on pink when you swatch it, but as you blend it out more of a peachy undertone comes through. For my skin tone, I couldn't use the YSL blushes, but Revelation works great..so there is definitely a difference between the two...but ya if you keep them all together they might look similar.

    5. If I go to the mall this weekend, I will try to post side by side swatches of the two (provided I find the YSL one at the counter) :D
