|Le Blush Creme de Chanel - Fantastic (66) - Fall 2013 Superstition Makeup Collection|
Check below for additional makeup details.
Chanel Fall 2013 Makeup Collection (Superstition) turned up at Nordstrom online last week, and the Le Creme Blush de Chanel is definitely the main attraction in this release. A new product launch from Chanel, these are cream blushes that feel and go on velvety, almost like a powder. More on the texture in a bit, on to the shade I am reviewing today - Fantastic. This is an intense berry-fuchsia shade, and as with all the other cream blushes from this range, it goes on matte with a bit of a sheen. Don't let the vivid color in the pan scare you - use a stippling brush to dab a hint of color and then blend to a barely there whisper. For my darker skin, the more pigmented the blush is the better it is, and I use my finger to apply the blush. Scroll on for photos, swatches, and more.
|Chanel Cream Blush in Fantastic compared with a bunch of other plum/pink blushes. Not really the same color family at all, but this should give an idea about the actual color of the blush..I think :P|
Burberry Hydrangea Pink - much lighter pink with a hint of fuchsia.
NARS Montenegro - plummy brown cream blush
NARS Seduction - reddish wine
Le Blush Creme de Chanel - Fantastic (66) - Swatches/FOTD
Fantastic is a fantastically pigmented berry fuchsia that sheers out quite easily into a wearable flush. My camera gets a little too excited whenever there is any pink/fuchsia color, so the hand swatches have come out a teeny bit more fuchsia than the actual color which has a bit more of berry to it. On my face, this can be used with a heavier touch for a berry-fuchsia pop of color or blended and buffed out to give a subtle fuchsia tint. Either way, the color lasted the whole day on my skin, though a bit of fading was noticeable at the end of the day.

Le Blush Creme de Chanel in Fantastic is a lovely pigmented blush that I could wear any time of the year - as a sheer flush on brighter sunnier days and a darker berry fuchsia for the cooler fall/winter months. The texture is a bit dry and powdery and not like the typical cream blushes. YSL creme blushes and Maybelline Dream Bouncy blushes might be somewhat similar, though the Chanel one feels much more powdery than the other two. The blush feels silky smooth to touch, and picks up like a dream on my fingers. There is a silicone-based slip to the blush, but it does tend to latch on to any rough/dry bits on the skin as it goes on. This does sort itself out easily enough with a bit of blending, but using a stippling brush to apply the product and/or using a silicone-based primer or foundation as a base would definitely help with the application. That said, the matte (nonglossy) texture makes it a great pick especially for someone with oily/combination skin like I have. Fantastic is an intensely pigmented blush, but because the pigmentation is easy to control, I think it should be flattering on a lot of skin tones.

For swatches/review of Chanel Cream blush on lighter skin tones, check out Wondegondigo's review. She isn't too happy with the staying power of the blush, and for some reason, her blush looks a bit shimmery in the pan (though not on swatches)!
