Our best-selling, multi-tasking cream color just got even better. It's now in a mirrored flip-top compact for on-the-spot application. Blend it on the apples of your cheeks for a just-pinched look. Blot it on your lips for a soft, stained finish. For drier skins, be sure to moisturize skin first.

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks - Calypso Coral
c/o Izzy's Perfume and Beauty Shoppe

Bobbi Brown Pot Rouges are one of the brand's best known products.  A multitasking cheek and lip product, the Pot Rouge comes packaged in a sleek slim compact that makes it perfect for slipping into the slimmest clutch.  I have wanted to pick up one of these for a while now, and fortunately for me, Izzy's Perfume and Beauty Shoppe offered me a chance to try out the Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral. This is a pefect coral shade with just the right balance of peach and pink to it.  The formula is similar to a cream blush - a little thicker and much more pigmented than a lot of other cream blushes I have tried. I use a MAC 187 to apply this, though you could just as easily use your fingers.  Scroll on for photos, swatches, and more.

Wearing the Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral Pot Rouge on cheeks and lips.
On lips, I have topped with Chanel lipgloss in Envolee.

Bobbi Brown Calypso Coral is the perfect hybrid of a cream blush and a lip color.  The product is quite pigmented, and a little goes a long way whether it be as a blush or as a lip tint.  As a cream blush, it is easy to apply and blend.  The lasting power is about 5 to 6 hours on a very hot summer day, which is pretty good for me!  The blush gives a nice dewy sheen to the skin and is perfect for winters and for dry skins.  I am a conflicted oily-combination skinned girl, and I love love love the color, but it can emphasize pores and make me look greasy-shiny if I go overboard with the product.  On to the lips, I would say it looks and feels somewhat similar to a lipliner.  The pigmentation is quite enough to cover even my darker lips, and the finish is a soft matte.  This is best used blotted on with fingers, in a thin layer.  It doesn't dry out my lips like a lot of other lip stains I have tried, but I would suggest well-prepped (gentle exfoliation) lips and a lip balm or a moisturizing gloss over this to keep lips soft as the day wears on.

Overall, Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge in Calypso Coral lives up to the rave reviews I have read so far.  The coral is bright and pigmented enough to show up on even on darker skins.  It is definitely the only actually usable lip-and-cheek product that I have tried so far, and the lovely color is quite true to what is looks like in the pan.  The formula should be instant love for anyone with dry skin and/or for the winters.  I have oily-combination skin, so I would probably save this for cooler (less humid) days.  Am definitely going to check out other colors just because I find this a very convenient product to carry around in my bag.
