|NARS Fairy's Kiss and Ride Up to The Moon Eyeshadow Palettes ($45 each)|
Fall 2013 Gifting Collection
NARS Fall 2013 makeup collection includes a few gifting items, limited edition offerings - 2 new eyeshadow palettes and a specially designed makeup pouch. I skipped the pouch, but I was more than happy to pick up both the eyeshadow palettes - Fairy's Kiss and Ride Up to The Moon. The eyeshadows in these palettes include shades from NARS regular line of single and duo eyeshadows but, of course, in much smaller sizes. The packaging on these palettes is the usual NARS rubberized black compact with the a mirror on one side and the shadows on the other, separated by a clear plastic cover that helps keep the powder from flying around. I just got these palettes today, so here's a quick look at the shadows, photos, and swatches (reviews in a bit).
NARS Fairy's Kiss Eyeshadow Palette is a dark violet-lavender based palette which would be ideal for a fabulous smokey eye. Among the two palettes, this would be my favorite - mostly because these are the sort of colors that I love, but also because I find the eyeshadows in this palette just the teeniest bit better in texture. I have only swatched them so far, not used them on my eyes, and I might change my opinion once I actually get a chance to use both the palettes :P

NARS Ride Up to The Moon has warmer colors in it - gold, bronze, browns, a deep green and an almost blackish brown - which probably makes this the more versatile of the two palettes in terms of providing softer shades for the day as well having stronger shades for the night. I found some of the colors in this palette slightly on the powdery side, especially Argentina, (I have only swatched so far), but definitely quite pigmented.

To give an idea regarding the size of the palettes, I have compared them with the regular NARS single eyeshadow and powder blushes as well as the larger Pierre Hardy blush. These palettes aren't as big as some of the older NARS eyeshadow palettes that I have seen online - I don't have any of them - and seem similar to the newer And God Created The Woman eyeshadow palette.
If you have a lot of NARS eyeshadows and/or some of their earlier palettes, these might not seem all that very unique, but it's only recently that I have had access to NARS products, so for me, these palettes are a fabulous way of picking up some of my favorite colors without having to worry about never finishing them! I love the idea of smaller sizes, and I wish more companies would come out with these sort of products. I don't have any of the shades in either of these palettes, but I think the quality of the eyeshadows is quite comparable to the regular NARS eyeshadows (the singles - I hate the only duo I have tried). If I had to pick one of these, I would pick Fairy's Kiss, but as I mentioned earlier, I do like such colors a lot, so I am slightly biased.
A note on the swatches: No primer/moisturizer/foundation. Eyeshadows swatched dry.
