Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick - Fiction ($34)

The exciting next chapter in the evolution of the iconic modern creme lip color, Rouge Coco Shine Hydrating Sheer Lip Shine provides beautiful, lasting, moisturizing shine in a water-light texture.  It glides on for easy application and is available in a complete range of shades, from delicate beiges to dazzling berries, with hints of shimmer to enhance a glossy finish.

Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Fiction is a warm berry color with fine gold shimmer scattered throughout.  Not surprisingly for Chanel, the shimmer is beautifully understated, and while it is seen on the lips if I peer close enough, it isn't chunky or gritty at all and just adds a lovely shine to the finish.  The formula is one of the more pigmented Rouge Coco Shines but still has some sheerness to it - sort of like a deeply tinted lip balm - and of course, feels just as comfortable as any good lip balm.  Scroll on for more photos.

As I mentioned earlier, Fiction is a deeply pigmented berry, but it doesn't look as scary dark on my lips/skin as it does in the tube.  The sheer formula helps some of the lip color show through, and on my lips the lipstick looks more a pinkish berry but can look deeper I guess depending on the natural lip color.

I certainly didn't expect to like this color as much as I seem to.  I bought it a while back and hadn't even used it beyond the initial swatches.  I guess it's because it's almost the end of summer and the temperatures cooling down in the evenings makes me want to bring out the darker colors now.  This is definitely going to be one of my go-to colors for the next couple of months, and it doesn't hurt that the formula is a blessing for dry lips like mine.  The Rouge Coco Shines don't have much of a lasting power, though, and disappear in about an hour or two.  Also, Fiction is a darker color and because of the balmy texture, applying this too heavily can cause it to spread out a bit along the edges of the lip.  These minor gripes aside - not really an issue at all for me, actually - I love this lipstick.  This is probably the only way I would wear darker, stronger lips.

    1. Am sorry, I can't help you regarding UK-based stores. I live in the US. I couldn't find this shade listed online, though, and since it is an older release, the color could have been discontinued.
