1. Start with a good base: Use a moisturizer that best suits your skin type and work it into the skin to help it absorb completely. This quick massage will also make the skin look fresher. Follow with a primer (if using) to help the foundation go on to the skin better. I use one on days when I am feeling particularly oily or my skin is in one of it's rare dry-skin bouts.

2. Using a foundation brush to buff in the foundation helps with achieving a flawless, air-brushed finish, but most days I am either in too much of a rush to bother with using one or just cannot find a clean one to use. No worries, though, because the best way to apply foundation is with your fingers. They go over the contours of the face just as easily as any brush, and the warmth of the fingers also helps work the product into the skin better.
For a flawless finish to the foundation, once you have done applying it with your fingers, switch to a sponge. Use a clean sponge - a disposable one if you don't want the hassle of cleanup later. Dampen the sponge - make sure it's just damp and not wet - and use stippling/dabbing motions to press the sponge over areas such as along the edges of the face, hairline, corner of the eyes, etc., to remove any excess product and help with seamless blending.
3. Finish with a light dusting of powder, concentrating on the areas that really need it - in my case, the oilier T-zone. The powder not only helps set all the makeup in place, but if you pick a mattifying/oil-absorbing version, it will also keep you shine-free all through the day. I like to use a fluffy powder brush to apply a powder, use soft dabbing motions to apply the powder rather than sweeping too much to avoid moving all the makeup that was put on earlier.
So, there you have it - quick, easy, flawless foundation application in less than a minute and hardly any special tools!
