Chanel Nail Polish: Paradoxal (509)

Chanel Nail Polish Paradoxal 509 - NOTD Swatches Review Photos
Chanel Nail Polish Paradoxal (509) available at and provided c/o Izzy's Perfume & Beauty Shoppe

Chanel Paradoxal is a dusty greyish purple nail polish with reddish violet shimmer mixed in.   The shimmer, of course, is typical Chanel - visible only when the light hits it, under sunlight or artificial light, and more obvious in the bottle than on the nails.  The color was launched a couple of years back and is, I think, a part of their permanent line of nail colors.  I have lost count of the number of times I have added this to my basket and put it back because it seems such a dull-looking color.  I finally got this about 2 months back and didn't bother using it until recently.  Such is the appeal of the color :P With the weather starting to cool down here, though, I find this a perfect color to use.  Scroll on for more photos.

Chanel Paradoxal is one of those colors I have taken forever to make up mind about, but now, I quite like it.  I love the flashes of shimmer in it, and I love the greyish purple base that makes it a perfect start-of-fall color.  I have not used any topcoat in these photos, and using one definitely brings out the shimmer better and helps it stay chip-free longer.  Going by reviews I have read, when Chanel launched this color way back when, it was a trendsetter of sorts, but I am sure there are good enough dupes available for it now.  If you love Chanel nail polishes, though, this is a classic you will want to have around.

  1. I have this one and I like it. It looks nice and soft on you due to your deep skintone. I recently bought Taboo, too, but on the nails it's not nearly as complex as Paradoxal. Taboo is nicer in the bottle LOL. (they're kind of both purples, that's the link in my scattered brain, sorry).

  2. Haa..no it makes sense to me :D :D I like Taboo, but I have to be superrrrrrrrrrrrrneat with the application. Even the tiniest speck can stain around the nails..and I do tend to have dry skin a lot sooo :|
