Current Favorites: Skincare for Hands and Feet

Current Favorites Skincare for Hands and Feet

I rarely do favorites posts, especially with skincare, because I don't make major changes when it comes to my skincare.  I have found a few products over the years that work for me, and I just stick to those.  Boring but effective.  Of late, though, I have been trying to stick to a routine for my hand/feet care - age really does show there - and here's a look at some of the products that I have been loving.  My favorite brands are Crabtree & Evelyn and Burt's Bees, but I do like to mix in some other products once in a while.

Starting off with a regular day cream, for my hands, I use the Crabtree & Evelyn hand creams when I am looking for a not-too-heavy fast-absorbing cream.  These are also good for office - not too heavily scented and don't leave hands greasy.  For days when I am at home and prefer something a bit more heavy,I use the Burt's Bees Shea Butter Hand Repair Cream*.  This is, again, not very greasy but does a fabulous job of keeping my hands moisturized all day long.  It also doubles as my daytime foot cream.  It does have a sharp/heavy fragrance to it, though, so I keep it for home use only.  The L'Occitane shea butter cream I started using very recently and so far it seems like a good day cream.

My go-to hand scrubs are the ones from Crabtree & Evelyn, and the one I am using currently - Lavender Hand Recovery - is my absolute favorite.  It smells good, and it leaves my hands so soft and smooth.  I use this about 3 to 4 times a week (more than recommended but works for me - use on damp hands, not dry).  For my feet, I amn't as regular, but I do try to give them a good scrubbing once a week.  I use the supermoisturizing (thanks to almond oil and shea butter) Burt's Bees Honey & Shea Sugar Scrub.

Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme (product provided for review)

I do a 5-minute pampering session for my feet and hands just before I go off to sleep.  The two products I am using now are the Burt's Bees Hand Salve and the Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme.  The Burt's Bees Hand Salve is a product I have tried earlier and found it a bit too hard and balmy for my liking, but I think there's been a bit of a reformulation or I just got a bad piece earlier.  Anywho, this is similar to a lipbalm in consistency but melts easily into the skin. It feels oily, and there's a sharp herbal smell to it.  It's completely natural oils and plant extracts.  Burt's Bees Coconut Foot Creme is an odd-looking product - translucent brown and looks more like an ointment - feels fabulous on my feet and massaging it in leaves my feet so warm and relaxed.  It is a bit sticky, and it's best used right before bedtime so you can tuck your feet into the blanket or into a pair of comfy cotton socks.

Nivea Lip Butter

I am quite prone to getting raggedy bits of dry skin around my nails - worse if I have my hands in water - and sometimes it can get quite painful too, so a cuticle cream is a must-have product for me.  Dior Creme Abricot is my favorite.  It is a very sticky product, though, and best for night-time use.  During the day, I prefer to use the lighter/nongreasy Crabtree & Evelyn Nail & Cuticle Therapy or even the Nivea Lip Butter which works just fine as an emergency cuticle treatment.

So, those were my current hand and feet care favorites.  Do you have any must-have products or steps to keep your hands and feet looking healthy and glowing?  Do share - I would love to know!

  1. Totally true about neglect really allowing age to show on your hands & feet! Also I find that my hands look particularly sad when as my skin loses elasticity. I'm starting to remind myself of my grandma (and her hands) when I used to pull the skin of her hand UP and then laugh when it stayed stretched and UP. I was a horrid child. >:(

I like Kiehl's Ultimate Hand Salve which is rich, but not greasy. Also LOVE the L'Occitane one. At home I've been using up a hand cream from Sabon which smells like a dream, but a little too weak for winter hands.
