|Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent 001|
About $5 depending on where you buy it.
I had been on a search for a good mattifying/setting powder for a while - something not too expensive - and Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder seemed to fit the bill (gets rave reviews from quite a lot of online beauty experts). I found a rather limited shade range at my local Target and decided to go with the Traslucent shade even though it looked quite a bit light for my skin tone. The packaging of this pressed powder is quite simple with a clear plastic cover over the actual pressed powder compact. The only issue I have with this packaging is it seems to be rather fragile, and I have already managed to crack a portion of the cover :(
I have been using the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent for a while now. It does seem a bit light for my skin tone but blends in almost transparent. The swatch above is slightly heavier. On my face, obviously, I don't go about applying it in stripes like that! I use a fluffy brush to apply this and use it mostly along the center of my face where it tends to be oilier, and I don't find it giving me an ashy look (and definitely not as much as my sunscreen). It works well as a setting powder of sorts, holding my makeup in place and giving it a more polished look. As a mattifying powder, this isn't too bad, but it does not give a completely matte effect - probably because I do not apply so much. I have oily-combination skin, and I like my skin to look natural and not too powdered/dry, and this powder gives me just that look and stays almost the same till the end of the day. Overall, the Rimmel Stay Matte Pressed Powder in Translucent is perfect for my needs. If you are any darker than me, though, and/or are depending on a powder to be your sole mattifying product, this might not be the best option for you.
