Today's Makeup: Orange-Red Lips and Shimmer on the Eyes

Today's makeup - Orange Red Lipstick Chanel Incandescente - Olive Shimmer Eyeshadow Mystere

There are some lip colors I would never ever try, and a bright red lipstick ranks #1 - a purple or green lipstick would be less scary to me - and while I have bought a red lipstick or two over the years, it's a color I definitely lack the confidence to carry.  A while back, I got a sampler of some Chanel reds, and it has stayed untouched until now.  Today, though, I decided to give these a try, starting with Chanel Incandescente.  Described as a "fire red," this color looks a bright orangey-red on my lips, and I have paired it with a wash of olive-beige shimmer on the eyes and a soft peach blush.

I have tried Chanel reds before, and in general, the Rouge Allure formula is one of my least favorite.  The lipsticks go on patchy on my lips and seem terribly drying.  I don't know what's different about Chanel Incandescente, but it feels so light on the lips, stays on even without a liner, and isn't drying either (though still not a moisturizing lipstick).  In real life, I would wear this applied lightly, switching the shimmery olive for a matte neutral brown eyeshadow to keep it more daytime appropriate.  It would be a nice red lip to pair with my usual attire of jeans and walking shoes :D

    1. Thank you, Sarah! I can really understand the staying away from bright colors...back home in India, I don't think I could ever wear this :P And even here now, I can't help but think I look a bit like paan-stained mouth/lips sort with anything orangey red :D :D
