|Maybelline India's Colossal Kajal - Rs. 175|
A friend of mine sent across a few Indian makeup products for me to try - mostly nail polishes and also the Maybelline Colossal Kajal. This seems to be quite a popular product going by reviews by a lot of Indian makeup/beauty bloggers, and it's an uberblack eyeliner, so of course, I love it already :P The kajal I have is the newer reformulated version which boasts 12 hours of smudge-proof wear (as opposed to the earlier 6 hours) and deepest black color. This twist-up pencil comes in a bright yellow packaging that's definitely easy to spot in a bag...or a messy room!
In terms of color payoff and ease of use, Maybelline Colossal Kajal lives up to all the claims. The twist-up pencil design allows for easy application - no need for sharpening - and the color is a deep rich black. The pencil is not as soft as traditional kohl pencils, but it is definitely softer than most other twist-up eyeliners I have tried so far. I can draw a smooth black line easily without any extra pressure or pulling on the skin or the waterline. For the swatches below, I have also added in a few other deep black eyeliners for a comparison.

On my lips, I have used Maybelline Superstay 14-Hour Lipstick in Please Stay Plum blotted lightly into the lips
topped with Maybelline Baby Lips balm in Cherry Me.
Maybelline recommends using the Colossal Kajal eyeliner pencil along the waterline to define the eyes and/or along the lashline for a bolder eye look. I generally apply a thinner line along my lashline, though in the photo above I have kept the line a little thicker and also smudged some of the color along the lower lashline. True to it's name, this is definitely a deep black color that's pretty much at par with the best black eyeliners I have tried so far. It has not irritated my eyes and is easy to apply. While I have not tried it on for 12 hours, the liner does last an easy 6 hours (beyond which I usually just take it off). Going by my experience with it, the Maybelline 12-Hour Smudge-Proof Colossal Kajal is a must-have!
A big thank you to my friend for picking this for me and to her cousin who couriered it to me :)
