DHC Skincare: Olive Virgin Oil Moisturizer

Bursting with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, Olive Virgin Oil contains 100% certified organic Flor de Aceite, one of the purest forms of olive oil available. It has a superior ability to moisturize and soften skin and to help you achieve a remarkably healthier complexion. Its unique hydrophilic properties allow it to form a protective moisture barrier against irritants without clogging pores. Warm a couple of drops between your palms, gently press onto your face, and let the revitalization begin.

Olive oil is one of the best known moisturizers, filled with antioxidants and antiaging ingredients, and quite readily available too.  I can pick up a huge bottle of the stuff at Whole Foods, so I was a bit skeptical about DHC Skincare's small little bottle of organic Olive Virgin Oil.  Besides I have oily-combination skin, and I have found regular olive oil impossible to use on my face.  Definitely started this review on a positive note, didn't I?  Well, turns out DHC Skincare Olive Virgin Oil is one of the few oils that I can actually really use on my face as a moisturizer!

This is a light colorless oil that comes in a sturdy plastic bottle with a very convenient pump dispenser.  No messy packaging and no leaks or oil smudges anywhere.  The oil itself is very, very light - quite surprisingly so if you are familiar with regular olive oil - and it absorbs quite easily too.  No discernible smell to it either.  This oil is meant for the face, but it can also be used on any other dry bits like hands, elbows, feet.  Since I was a bit scared to use this on my face right away, I started with (and still do) using this as my night-time hand moisturizer.  My hands touch my face a lot, and I would know right away if the moisturizer isn't for me.  Thankfully, I didn't get the tell-tale pimples even after a week, so I got a little bolder and tried this out on my face.  I need 1-2 drops for my face - warm the oil between my palms and press on to clean face.  The oil absorbs quite easily, and incredibly, does not leave my face oily.  No dry bits or flaky skin either.  It's winters here, and I stay indoors most of the time, so I cannot really comment on how well this would work in warmer/humid climates.

Overall, though, DHC Skincare's Olive Virgin Oil is a good pick for anyone looking to add in some natural products into the skincare routine, especially for the night.  Perfect for dry and normal skins, and going by my experience for oily-combination skin types too.  Also, it's available in a smaller $6 bottle that's perfect for trial.
