Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss ($20 each) Press sample provided for review |
I am a lipgloss girl, prefer the easy wearability and comfort of glosses to lipsticks, so I was quite happy to get to try out two of the Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Glosses. These lip glosses combine a glassy, glossy finish with ultrarefined, perfectly dispersed pigments to give a superlight, comfortable blend that feels weightless on the lips but still leaves a bold wash of gorgeous color. They are packaged in the usual gloss packaging - long transparent tubes that allow the color to be seen through. The colors I am reviewing today are Cognac - brown berry with fine gold shimmer - and Azalea - a bright pink fuschia. Scroll on for more photos.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss - Swatches - Cognac, Azalea |
On my lips, I love the weightless wash of color that both these lip glosses give. They don't feel too tacky or sticky - mostly because you don't really need to goop on product for the color to show - and they are quite long-lasting (by gloss standards). They do transfer and don't last through a meal or coffee, but a bit like lip stains, both the glosses left a hint of color on my lips even after they had worn off. Azalea is a bright fuschia pink that is a perfect pop of color for the spring/summer. I have used it without a lipliner in the photo below, and some of my uneven lip pigmentation does show through, but it's an easy effortless way to wear bright colors, imo.

Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss - Cognac |
Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss Cognac is a soft brown with hints of berry in it. It has fine gold shimmer mixed in, but it's very subtle and not all that very obvious on the lips - I don't like chunky glitter particles, so this is perfect for me. In the photo above, I did cheat a bit and applied No.7 lipliner in Nude to a few patchy pigmented areas on the lips. This lipgloss does seem a bit more pigmented than Azalea, and probably because of the berry tones and gold shimmer in it, it's much more wearable on my skin tone than a plain, cool-toned brown.
Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Azalea would be a pefect spring/summer color, especially if you are a little shy of wearing bright lip colors that are always a trend this time of the year. Cognac is a perfect pick for anyone who loves neutral, my-lips-but-better lip colors. Like me. I can never ever have enough of those!
Verdict - Two new favorites in my lip gloss collection!
