Of all the holiday makeup launches, the one I really, really look forward to is the Dior holiday makeup, and this year's collection - Diorific State of Gold makeup collection - definitely lives up to my expectations, at least in terms of packaging.  The Dior holiday 2015 collection follows what seems to have become an annual trend with luxe gold packaging and gorgeous red lipsticks and nail colors.  Of course, there are other colors and products in there, but it's the lipstcks and nail colors that truly capture the festive spirit...for me.  Also something to check out is the Dior Couture Smokey palette - a beautiful eye-lip palette - which I spotted at Sephora.  I don't have swatches/photos of every product from the Dior holidays 2015 makeup collection, but here's a look at a few bits and bobs.

Two eyeshadow quints are part of the Dior State of Gold makeup collection - 886 Blazing Gold and 576 Eternal Gold.  Both palettes feature a mix of satin and shimmery neutral to slightly darker shades but nothing too dark or matte.  The shadows feel soft and go on quite smoothly on the skin, and overall, these are good picks if you want a simple yet classy makeup look.  I amn't a huge fan of the Dior quints, simply because this kind of an eyeshadow formula doesn't seem to translate well on my lids, and both the Dior State of Gold eyeshadow palettes seem a little too cool-toned for me.  That's just my preference, though, and I think these are lovely eyeshadow palettes to own if you love the Dior formula (or colors).

The Dior State of Gold makeup collection also includes 3 new lipsticks.  These feature the rounded gold packaging that Dior has released as part of recent holiday collections, and the formula is best described as a creamy matte.  The lipsticks deliver rich color in a single swipe and are quite longlasting.  This year's launches include Diorific Mat Velvet lipsticks Fantastique 770 (fuschia pink - my favorite), Fabuleuse 750 (red), Radieuse 430 (coral pink), and Fascinante 580.

The eyeshadows in the photo above are the buttery soft, pigmented shades from the Dior Couture Smokey Palette.  This is a cobination lip and cheek palette, and as much as I am aware of how messy mixing creams and powders in palettes can be, I find the concept so convenient for travel.  It definitely helps that the Dior Couture Smokey palette has the sort of colors I reach for most often.  The are three eyeshadows in this palette - a neutral beige, plummy brown, and a smooth dark matte brown - all quite pigmented and seem easy to blend.  The lip products in the palette are a pale pink lip maximizer - great for hydrating and priming lips - and a soft pink Rouge Dior that should pair well with the darker colors in the palette for a simple, well-coordinated makeup look.

The tester in the photo doesn't show it, but the actual palette does have a flap to cover the lip products and should help considerably with keeping the powders from messing up the creamy lip colors.

The nail colors from the Dior State of Gold collections were the ones I was most curious about, but while the colors are beautiful and perfect for the fall-winter season, I was looking for something with more shimmer and sparkle - similar to Dior Minuit.  Also part of the holiday collection - and not yet swatched - are Diorific State of Gold Illuminating Pressed Powder (a gold highlighting powder - Luxurious Beige 001), Dior Addict lipgloss (Sparkle 322), and Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Blazing (631).

Overall, the Dior Holiday 2015 makeup collection is a not-too-difficult pass for me.  The packaging is beautiful, but I don't really feel anything is a must-have.  I liked the lip colors, and the Dior Couture Smokey palette would work great if you like a mix of neutral dark shades in your eye makeup look.  A good pick, especially during Sephora's sale.  I do have to admit, though, this is my very biased opinion, based on colors and formula that work best for me, so do give the collection a try at the counter, and you just might find the perfect holiday gift.
