Urban Decay Eyeshadow Palette ($55) - available at Sephora |
Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes are some of the most popular ones in the makeup world, and one of the newer launches - Urban Decay Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette - seems to be another winner from the brand. Unlike the neutral/nude palettes, the Spectrum palette is a mix of brighter, deeper colors with a lot of blues, greens, and pinks and purples. The eyeshadows are smooth, pigmented, and seem easy to blend. Scroll on for a peek at the swatches.

Urban Decay Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette - Swatches Burn - Medium golden brown shimmer West - Medium golden brown shimmer |
It's been a while since I have been seriously impressed with Urban Decay palettes. I love the concept of the Naked palettes, but I didn't particularly care for the newer versions (especially the UD Smoky palette). The Urban Decay Spectrum Eyeshadow palette has fewer browns and beiges (the traditional neutrals) and falls more in the blue-green and pink-purple category, but there is something about the texture and colors in the palette that appeals to even a mostly-brown-eyeshadows girl like me. The eyeshadows are beautifully pigmented - no chalky texture here - and while there are quite a few shimmery shades in there, nothing is loud or chunky. The colors are perfect for darker smokey looks, and the blues and pinks are perfect for spring-summer makeup looks when paired with some neutral shades. It does lack matte transition shades, though, so the palette does have its flaws, but overall it is a great pick for anyone who is looking for a palette that can be used for a broader range of makeup looks (and for UD fans). This is a limited-edition palette, but it is still available online and in stores, so if you like it - snap it up before it disappears.

Oh no--you're getting my inner magpie all excited!
ReplyDeleteThis palette is gorgeous! I especially love the purple shades and don't think I have anything like this in my collection. *trying to rationalize why I need another palette in my collection*
