Easy Glam - Soft Smokey Eyes with Red Lips

Easy Glam Makeup Tutorial Steps - Soft Smokey Eyes with Red Lips - UD Vice lipstick EZ
Easy Glam - Soft Smokey Eyes with Red Lips

For the longest time, I was a no-makeup person - not in the current "no-makeup" trend way but absolutely no makeup - and then moved on to using mineral powders and liner.  Even now, my idea of makeup is pretty low key, and I rarely venture beyond my comfort zone of brown shadows and neutral lips.  Last week, though, I was trying out some of the lipsticks in the UD Vice lipstick sampler (Sephora GWP) and decided to go with a red lip and paired it with a soft smokey eye makeup look.  It's still a simple makeup look but a little more glam than my usual.  Scroll on for details.

The red lipstick is UD Vice lipstick in EZ.  It's a bright red with some coral tones to it - on me, it looks like a slightly warm red.  I prefer to keep my eye makeup to a minimum with perhaps curled lashes and mascara when I use brighter lip colors, but this time I decided to go with a soft smokey eye that adds a bit more definition to the eyes.  I used a black eyeliner by Urban Decay - Perversion - smudged along the lashline and topped with one of my favorite eyeshadows by NARS - Surabaya.

Soft Smokey Eye - Steps
1.  Use a primer if needed (oily lids).  Line with black eyeliner along upper lashline and lightly along lower lashline.
2.  Smudge the black liner, keeping the color closer to the lashline.
3.  Apply a warm brown eyeshadow to the lid, from lashline to a little above the crease.  Blend along the crease to avoid a harsh line.  Apply the same eyeshadow along lower lashline.
4.  Smudge black eyeshadow along the upper lashline, applying the color towards the outer third of the lashline and blending it lightly upwards and outwards.  Curl lashes and finish with mascara.

For lips, I used UD lipstick in EZ, applied with a lip brush.  The color is quite opaque, stays on all day, and feels comfortable on the lips.  I didn't have a lipliner to go with the color, so skipped that step.  I applied the lipstick in thin layers, working the color into the lips with the brush.  Once done, I used some foundation on a cotton tip to clean up along the edges and give a more defined appearance to the lips.

  3. Love that lipstick shade on you. I've just been getting into brighter colours (I normally wearing boring browns and brick reds) and surprisingly I really like the look! Makes me feel more energetic and fun! Haha

    1. Hi Aarthi..oh I rarely wear a red lip in real life, but I guess I am more than willing to try something different on the blog :D Nothing against brighter/bolder makeup looks - they take up a lot more time and sometimes don't fit in.
