Lancome Color Design Matte Lip Crayons - Swatches

Lancome Color Design Matte Lip Crayons - Swatches
Lancome Color Design Matte Lip Crayons ($24 each) available at Ulta

Lancome Color Design Matte Lip Crayons launched some time last year, but it's only recently that I spotted these in store.  The design is not unique, and a lot of drugstore (L'Oreal color crayons) and higher end brands (Bite Beauty) have similar products.  These crayons are twist-up pencils, a little chubbier than regular lipliners, and they bring with them the convenience and lasting power of a lipliner along with the lip-friendly texture of a lipstick.  The shades that I tried are all mostly bright pops of color, though there are a few nude/pale shades in the range.  Scroll on for swatches.

True to claims, Lancome Color Design Matte lip crayons have a lightweight pigmented formula that goes on matte.  As someone with lips that are prone to flaking/drying quite easily, I stay far away from mattes, but I have to admit it is an easy, modern way to wear bolder colors.  It would definitely help to prep the lips, exfoliating to get rid of any flaky skin and using a nourishing lip balm (wipe off before applying the crayon to get the matte effect), before using this product.  The crayon makes it easy to line and fill the lips, and it is also convenient to carry around in a bag.  Do give these a try if you love the idea of easy-to-use matte lip colors.
